Alvin Kamara is under contract for the New Orleans Saints for the upcoming season, yet his status with the team couldn’t be more unclear. The comments of the front office don’t line up with their lack of action, making this an incomprehensible situation. theleadsm.com/the-saints-han…

@BootKreweMedia MT’s Touchdown catch in this game too. Tre’quan Smith’s TD against the 49ers in 2020 to put us up with under a minute. Brees to Brandon Coleman (I believe) against the Broncos in the infamous blocked kick game. Ted Ginn’s Catch in the no-call game.

@kgriffinburner6 People will only say they’re not getting robbed and that’s it’s a fair deal if you make it completely lopsided for them - like Triolo, Flores, and Sisk for Mason Miller or something.

@kgriffinburner6 If you ask a fanbase if a trade is fair and their fanbase is trading away players that are good & that they like, that fanbase will always say that’s it a bad deal for them and that they’re getting shafted. I guarantee Padres fans would say they’re being robbed if you asked them.

@NeedtoNeaux I agree now. His early picks and trades were pretty bad. Not many GMs would make it to year seven with no winning seasons.

The @Pirates are the 2nd MLB team ever to enter the All-Star break last in MLB in runs per game one year (2025) and first in runs per game the next year (2026). They joined the 1986 and 1987 Cardinals (who won 95 games and lost to the Twins in the World Series).

@NeedtoNeaux @BillyShears6767 @AlexJStumpf Thats' fair. I should have probably specified moreso about this being about the eye test and what I've seen arsenal wise rather than the official calculation. Thank you for the clarification

@BillyShears6767 @AlexJStumpf Santana has shown better stuff this year than Kelly. Wish the best for his career, but Antwone has to be shopped at the deadline as a "controllable, young starter" with a top 10 prospect (in system) classification

It’s so hard to predict. The point of my post wasn’t that I think Valdez is a for-sure 1.100 OPS hitter, though it’s at least on the table. Rather, that what we’re seeing isn’t just a ‘new guy’ mirage that will fade into nothing. What I’ve observed: 1. Valdez learns from his mistakes, both from game-to-game and even during a game, and is still growing as a hitter. 2. When he locks in, he goes on a multi-game run where he’s apt to hit home runs in bunches. 3. Other teams are actively running analytics and trying to shit him down, which can lead to 4-5 lulls while he recalibrates. 4. This back-and-forth has already happened a couple times, and each time he locks back in and does damage. That is the sort of thing superstars do. It’s what all the greats have done, but it can often take a lot more time for other hitters to recalibrate. I’m awed by how quickly he is able to adjust. He’s laying off pitches that I simply can’t believe he’s letting go by. He’s 22 years old and he has the patience of someone in his prime. This isn’t hyperbole. It isn’t hype. I think we’re watching a potential elite hitter get his start. Okay. With that out of the way, I’d put his numbers at the end of the 2026 season at: Low: .280/.360/.490 Medium: .290/.370/.530 High: .300/.380/.570 I’d suggest a swing from an .850-.950 OPS is about what I’m projecting going forward as well. I don’t expect an utter collapse, so that’s a conservative floor, but I do think he could be a 1.000+ OPS hitter. And I think that purely from how I’m seeing him adjust to major league pitching. If I were Ben Cherington, I would be signing him this offseason to match Griffin, and ride them to championships. How’s that? Am I crazy? Maybe. But I don’t think I am.

I get that on the eye test a bit. O’Hearn seems like a more natural 1B. The only argument is that when O’Hearn leaves Pittsburgh after next year, Spence would go back to being the primary 1B for another two years. Do you want to displace him for a year? Probably not a big deal, but a consideration…

So at some point it will be: Griffin SS Lowe 2B Reynolds LF Valdez RF O’Hearn DH Gonzalez 3B Cruz CF Rodriguez C Horwitz 1B Or something? Where do you put Horwitz and Cruz? And then this is your bench: Mangum CF Davis C Callihan 3B/OF Triolo 3B/SS Just incredible.
