Darisbel Quintero Morillo and her husband Gilbert were living in Dallas and hoping to start a family. Darisbel learned that she was pregnant after she had been detained and locked away in an ICE prison. She began experiencing bleeding and went to the hospital. She learned that she miscarried. As she was grieving the loss, ICE chained her to her hospital bed. According to ICE’s own policies, she should never have been locked away while pregnant. What should have been a joyous time for her family became a nightmare under the Trump Administration’s cruel mass deportation machine. It is shameful. Darisbel should be released immediately.

Mario Bravo was demeaning to a council member and I don’t recall people praising him as “tough, etc.” In fact, he was censured and bounced from office by the candidate whom Mayor Jones was censured for demeaning.

@MichaelKarlis When a man acts this way, the public characterizes the leader as strong, tough, no-nonsense, intense, and highly confident. When a woman acts this way, she's out of bounds, acting inappropriate, disrespectful, and demeaning. The double standard is why this is news.

What Clyburn is saying here is actually very important. The court found a way to rule that a 75% white district (higher than SC’s total non Hispanic white pop.) is legal if you call it a political gerrymander, but a 40 or 45% Black district is an illegal racial gerrymander.

Since Bush v Gore, the Supreme Court has demonstrated that their first rule is helping Republicans win. They are responsible for the loss of confidence in their impartiality. They are creating the demand for reform.
