#OPINION 🇷🇼 Rwanda A Disturbing Example of Neglect” — Mugunga “This is happening in Rwanda, under the very authorities entrusted to serve the people,” writes Nadia Mugunga, reacting to scenes of severely degraded roads in Nyamasheke District. She describes the situation in Rangiro Sector as “a disturbing example of neglect,” where basic infrastructure has deteriorated to the point of disrupting daily life. “How can such conditions persist under their watch?” she asks, questioning the inaction of local authorities responsible for maintaining essential services. #READ 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥: Rwanda Has No Authority Over Congolese Civic Life — Mugunga Banyamulenge's right to organize, travel, and engage with regional leaders, including in Burundi, is entirely a matter of Congolese civic and political life. It is not Rwanda’s role to approve. Read Full Letter Here by ➡️ @Nadia_MUGUNGA1 ↘️: xtrafrica.com/news/nadia-mug…

🇨🇩To the family of Reverend Jesse Jackson, I wish to say, on behalf of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, thank you. Your mourning is also ours. You have lost a father, a husband, and a brother. The world has lost a pastor, a champion, and a builder of bridges. Africa has lost a faithful ally, and the Congo has lost a true friend.” — President Félix Tshisekedi during the Funeral of Reverend Jesse Jackson in Chicago 🇺🇸

#URGENT: After Boasting and “Go to Hell,” Kagame begged Senator to Help Stop Sanctions — WSJ Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who recently dismissed the threat of sanctions by saying “go to hell” and mocking critics with remarks such as “sanction, sanction… you are just foolish, absolutely foolish,” was reportedly making a direct call to U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham in late January to seek assistance in halting potential White House sanctions. The proposed measures were reportedly linked to alleged violations of the Washington peace accord between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. According to an exclusive report by The Wall Street Journal, Senator Graham intervened with the administration, and the sanctions package was shelved. This comes as a very striking contrast. In public, Kagame projected defiance, insisting Rwanda would not bow to external pressure. Yet behind the scenes, diplomatic engagement appears to have been underway to prevent those same sanctions from taking effect... Your Comments on this......

But the truth is, I know that we Rwandans used to support them strongly. However, M23 should try to be smarter and come up with a Plan B. They should abandon this war because they are already defeated. There is no shame in defeat; when you are defeated in diplomacy, bullets cannot save you. Here are the mistakes I believe they made: 1️⃣Constantly changing the reasons for which they claim to fight 2️⃣Aligning themselves with Joseph Kabila, a mistake they will regret, because he is the one they initially fought against. 3️⃣Allowing all negotiations to be conducted by Rwanda. This shows that M23 does not truly exist as an independent entity, since it was not directly invited or represented. 4️⃣Using the Banyamulenge community by force, some accepting, others refusing, and many not even leading the movement, which made them appear like extremists. 5️⃣Rwanda openly admits that it supports them. #TRANSCRIBED | 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗗 🇷🇼 “Even though we don’t talk about it openly, let’s be honest — we, the youth of Rwanda, are damn broke and Poor. Look at me. I look good, right? If someone saw me walking in the market, they’d think I can afford something. But the truth is — if you looked at my account right now, it has only 300 Rwandan Francs. That’s like 2 US cents. I’m raising the alarm for Rwandan youth — things are tough out here. This is something the government should be paying attention to. We are broke. We are cooked. Everything is bad.” Your Comments on this?

#URGENT According to extensive ethnographic research published by the University of California Press, Kigali’s transformation was not primarily designed for the people who live there. It was engineered as a brand, a product tailored for foreign investors, donors, and global institutions, even if that meant demolishing real neighborhoods, erasing livelihoods, and displacing thousands of residents. ‘Green City’ Marketing = Demolitions + Exclusion Kigali’s “eco-friendly” urban plan, touted at Davos and climate summits, came at a devastating human cost. Areas like Bannyahe were labeled “unsustainable” to justify mass evictions, despite residents having built their own infrastructure. Why? Because the land was in the wrong hands: not foreign firms or elites, but local Rwandans. The report concludes: “The problem wasn’t urban planning. It was ownership by the wrong people.” Read More ➡️ xtrafrica.com/news/exposed-h…
