While a given due to its abilities, it's appreciable Lagiacrus excels at its current narrative of an invader by virtue of being a lightning rod in a downpour's haven. So, Monster Hunter fans, what other non-invader/elder monsties would you feel are horrendous in the right biome?

Sometimes one of the funniest comments you'll see in Monster Hunter goes along the lines of 'well this mon wouldn't have won / drew, etc, if they didn't have this ability." Oh, that so? The creature with an ability wouldn't be as effective without an ability? Delightful.

@SirJessums I’ll make that determination when UWC comes back. He lives or dies depending on whether or not the Dev can execute the vision of MH’s very own Piranhadon.

That Magnamalo aims its victim at you during the anti-flyer turf war makes a nice detail both for combat and its Rampage focus. Seizing a flyer trying to escape the panic and then ramming it into unsuspecting ground monsties is multiple delicious birds with one delicious stone.

@ES4613424423 A personal pet theory of mine is that the trace amounts of dragon element, found across almost every ED, is the reason why they have such insane elemental prowess. Especially when compared to the average wyvern. With it allowing them to build up a tolerance to elemental abilities

@ES4613424423 Shara phase 1 suffers a bit on repeat, but it genuinely befuddled me the first time. Here stood a monsters that seemingly contradicted all of MH’s design philosophy. In a title that adhered to that philosophy to the upmost. Only to have the best phase 2 subversive reveal.

@NegativeSocks7 Xeno didn't get cool until Safi and Shara's kind of just there, but also it apparently shaped the continent, but also its rock phase is boring. Most memorable thing it did was getting Nergiganted, which I find a surprisingly compelling muse of predator-prey dynamics.

Monster Hunter fans, what is an exception to your general trend of likes / dislikes? For example, I've not much fondness for the Whoa Big Boss Dragon Reveals lately but I'll exempt Narwa because I just really like her more coherent ecological / narrative theme.

@SirJessums A Velkhana variant that’s due to years of hardship has lost many an appendage. It makes up for these shortcomings with its ice element. Able to create prosthetic on the fly. It models some of these prosthetic on hunter/monster that gave it a particular hard time.

If you could design your own variant or sub species of Velkhana, what would you make?

@ES4613424423 On the subject of Ibushi. I wonder how many plp are aware of the fact that he can lift island size chunks of rocks into the air. Like there’s nothing stopping him from returning Lao his ability to fly.😂😂😂

On an aside, it would've been cool if, should Ibushi appear while Magnamalo is running around, you unlock a unique turf war where Malo has a shot but ultimately Sky Daddy smacks it up. Sets a neat middle between Malo going 1:1 with Kush tiers and getting utterly washed by Narwa

@AmxzinJr When is Brachy ever hunted down by Agnaktor? Do you mean the cutscene? That seems more like a TW, if anything I’d it was the inverse. As we’ve seen Brachy hunt Uroktors. Brachy is also considered strong for his tier. Which is the same tier as Gravios that being “Apex Tier”.

@NegativeSocks7 @Ada2987_art The only monster to prey on Gravios that we know of is Akantor. Brachydios isn’t powerful enough to hunt them especially when they themselves are prey for Agnaktor.

@Greenygreed @Ada2987_art That doesn’t make sense ecologically speaking, going off of “game-theory”. However it might make sense within the internal logic of the games. As that’s how Ruinner Nergigante is said to have come about.

@ES4613424423 (Hey Hirabami gets friends!) On a more serious note though. I suppose that was the narrative purpose of the Apexes. Seeing how far a Monster could perfectly adapt to its environment by MH logic.

@NegativeSocks7 True, though there's still a certain amusement that Jin's adaption involved a mega ice nuke and Hirabami just got floaty. (of course evolution isn't about 'buffing' but some chaps sure draw shorter straws xD)

@Ada2987_art Sure, but I assume the counter to that is that: A. Volcanos aren’t very productive environments even in MH. So good territories are hard to come by. B. Heavy Shell Wyvern typically occupy a high position in the trophic later. So they themselves aren’t very productive.

@NegativeSocks7 Well and if he is in rivarly with Akantor then what? Akantors don't live just about anywhere and this sort of thing is pretty normal in animal world too. Just because one species is suited for something a little better, does not deny existence of weaker or smaller competition
