15/ The documentation maintenance schedule:
After every implementation: Update relevant docs immediately
Monthly: Review for accuracy
- Test procedures still work
- Links aren't broken
- Screenshots current
Quarterly: Comprehensive audit
- Archive outdated sections
- Identify gaps
- Update based on team feedback
Annually: Major revision
- Restructure if needed
- Consolidate redundant docs
- Update for platform changes
Documentation rots without maintenance.
Technical SEO projects fail because of poor documentation.
Not because of technical skill.
Sites break during migrations.
Fixes get reversed.
Knowledge lives in one person's head.
Here's how to document technical SEO properly: 🧵👇

10) Technical Documentation:
Prompt:
"Create a user manual for [software/product]. Include step-by-step instructions for installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Add screenshots, diagrams, and a FAQ section. Ensure the language is clear and accessible for non-technical users."

If it fits in your usecase, please give it a try!
This is a very good exercise. Every time I do this, I put the transcript into Claude and ask it to update our documentation with the new context.
Something else we do is to separate SOPs from guides.
SOPs are specific step by step processes, guides are used when there multiple right answers. They’re principle based, so you can teach the principles and context instead the actual process which may change all the time.
Here is something I have failed at recently, running my team.
We have worked really hard at documenting our process.
I think everybody knows what is the next step.
But within a step there are decisions that need to be made.
Within advertising something that is true for one brand can actually be opposite for another brand.
It can be hard to know how you complete the step if you don't actually understand the decision that needs to happen within that step.
So even though we have an SOP, the decision tree and understanding the nuances of how to make those decisions were not being passed on by me.
This weekend I spent 5 to 6 hours just recording myself talking through how I would make decisions within certain scenarios to help solidify what comes naturally to me within a decision so that I can actually start to pass this on to other people.
What was interesting about this exercise was that I started to find themes within my own decision making that I've not actually thought about before.
That means if I haven't consciously formulated that decision framework - my team definitely hasn't learned it from me.
I am excited to dig deeper into my thinking to pass it on to others on my team.

@the_real_ori Yeah, there is a forever-free tier that handles the core documentation perfectly. The advanced features are just a one-time lifetime license.
@the_real_ori Thanks! It's going well. I'm currently brainstorming the next round of features to add, and mostly just focusing on getting early users to try out the free version and share their feedback!" Would love for you to give it a spin!
