This is what #FloralFarms looks like when it rains. Illegally cleared lots that pour concrete drain all their water to our homes and legal businesses. @CityOfDallas is failing its residents. It allows illegal tree clearing & illegal development in the floodplain. @DallasPlanUD

This is why we filed a @HUDgov complaint against the @CityOfDallas for failing to enforce their codes and protect our health, safety and general welfare. We demand action by the City of Dallas to enforce their codes in OUR community.

This is just one of many illegally cleared lots in our community. We are tired of the City not addressing the #environmentalinjustices in #FloralFarms. We deserve #ParksNOTPollution, the preservation of the Trinity Forest canopy, and promoting legal businesses.

No certificates of occupancy or other permits for these three lots on Zonie Road in Floral Farms. Trees have been clear cut and the sites leveled. There is no code enforcement in Floral Farms. This is how #ShingleMountain started. This is an Ag zoning district. @NeighborsUnidos

A @CityOfDallas public works truck has been parked outside of the Blue Dragon, an illegal gambling location in #FloralFarms for several days. It is disappointing that our city fails to enforce code violations that impact our health and safety. We deserve better.

Illegal operations are affecting our community, and the City of Dallas continues to neglect code enforcement. Shingle Mountain was prolonged because of the city's failure to act. When will they stand up to protect Floral Farms? @CityOfDallas should revoke Almira's permit.

"I know our environment played a role in my dad’s declining health. He died young, especially compared to the age his parents passed. I wonder how he... could have lived longer had industrial polluters not been part of our home environment." -Janie Cisneros, West Dallas resident

🎉 Wow! Dallas City Council voted unanimously to remediate the #ShingleMountain site. This vote is a long-time coming- residents have long-term health issues from the site, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Thank you @CityOfDallas for voting unanimously in favor of allocating $2 million for the remediation of Shingle Mountain to residential standards! We look forward to next steps to improve the quality of life for residents in #FloralFarms and the City as a whole.

Thank you @keratx for highlighting the vote happening today at City Council to allocate $2 million for the remediation of the former Shingle Mountain site to residential standards. “It is just one step closer to fulfilling our dreams... getting that park.” keranews.org/news/2022-05-1…
