This is what Irish Republicanism is reduced to. Angry, bitter old man waffling incoherently, wanting to bring the whole thing down, then demanding a referendum as if entitled to it, when the majority clearly don't want it Out of touch, zero ideas, going nowhere & they know it.
The Irish News@irish_news

'It's time for Sinn Féin to give up on this failing assembly' Irish News columnist Brian Feeney believes something needs to change ahead of the next assembly election in 2027. It follows Sinn Féin's ard fheis at the weekend, which saw senior party figures calling out the DUP. Feeney says the party underestimates the DUP’s 'fear and loathing' of them.

Belfast had 33 bookshops in 1986. Allegedly, including charity shops there are 15 left. Thread🧵

@NeillArmstrong2 There’s no footfall Neill, the ‘build it and they will come’ myth has been well and truly busted. The charity shop next door shut for the same reason.

I'm on the train and the elderly man opposite me has a newspaper. He's only doing the crossword but it still made me a bit nostalgic for my daily trip from Helensburgh to Glasgow. What next? Someone riding a chopper or listening to a Walkman? 😱

What happened to all those promises last summer that the media wouldn’t give up on this story after the bonfire? That they would fight until a community didn’t face an asbestos threat? About as empty as I suspected they would be….but bonfires, condemning young people from loyalist areas, the media excel at that “Show leadership” is the cry of some politicians. Where was the leadership in council getting on site removing the material and billing the owner? Nah just another summer of same auld guff

British Prime Ministers may come and go, but one thing remains the same, their contempt and disregard for our people and communities. No matter your background, nationalist, unionist, or neither, we are stronger when we stand together, standing up for workers and families in the face of British government failures.

@PhillipBrett21 Unionism never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity You lot just shot yourselves in the foot, Unionism has no chance of getting McCoubrey elected to the assembly next year. The People of West Belfast will come out against Unionism and punish you at polls

Is there a better setting for a golf course in the world. No Azaleas here, it’s daisy’s & primrose’s that naturally light up the fairways and rough. Cruit Island G.C. is special, nine holes full of adventure, a good test & so welcoming. It can be breezy. Think you’ll enjoy it.

Huge win! The High Court has dismissed the Unionist challenge, meaning Irish will finally be seen on Belfast’s signs & uniforms. A massive victory for equality and our heritage. Mo cheol sibh! Our language is alive, proud, and here to stay. #Gaeilge #Belfast #AchtGaeilge

@CarlJWhyte 75% of recruits are now Protestant. Some Nationalist parents in integrated schools (including me) are now removing permission for their children to have PSNI input. Weekly scandals. It's a failed experiment at this point.

This has nothing to do with Marie Anderson. It is a dangerous intervention by the DUP & an attempt to give UK security services a soft veto on future appointments in Policing & Justice in NI. With nationalist confidence in policing slipping further, that cannot be permitted.

The former Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland was appointed "despite security service concerns", the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) has claimed. bbc.in/4cCkusS

@annie_mcginley @darrenleckey Without Houston Texas would have renamed as Tejas and Austin would never have had the state capital named after him and as you said History isnt a trophy its a record.

@NeillArmstrong2 @darrenleckey If he’s the 'true' Father because he won the war, someone should tell the map. They named the capital Austin for a reason. Houston was a titan, but even he knew the difference between winning a fight and founding a home. History isn't a trophy; it's a record. Facts matter.

@annie_mcginley @darrenleckey Sam Houston was a modest man who held high regard for Autin but make no mistake Houston won the war, and he created the independent state of Texas separate to the US.

@NeillArmstrong2 @darrenleckey While he defeated Santa Anna, Houston himself gave the title "Father of Texas" to Stephen F. Austin. To claim otherwise ignores his own wishes and is disrespectful to his legacy. History isn't just about battles; it's about honoring the man’s own words.

@darrenleckey The newsletter claimed he was the 'true Father of Texas' and born abroad. Both are false. Pointing out he was born in VA and gave the 'Father' title to Austin himself isn't 'scrubbing' history—it’s just reading it. Facts aren't a debate, and I'm not here to argue the myths.
