Based on deep insights given by @biancoresearch I can conclude there's an interesting new paradigm in America where banks are losing more and more deposits because many people realize it's not worth keeping their money there for a 2 basis point (BPS) return. Instead, they put their money into T-bills, money market funds, or ETFs. All of this is made possible through the development of fintech and mobile banking, where it's just a few clicks away. Of course, inflation is also a significant factor, as people understand that their money is losing value and are trying to at least neutralize inflation. Overall, this looks like a lot DeFi summer or DEFI yield farming 1.0, where TradFi has become yield farming and capital is mercenary, jumping around for better yields without any allegiance. We can expect this trend to occur around the world down the line, which will mean a lot of new "dumb money", but it also means that TradFi and DeFi will become closer to each other, making it easier to onboard people into DeFi and crypto.
