@Amy_Siskind I don’t know if this is a gen x thing but growing up it was heavily emphasized that your vote is private & for you only, I remember being told it was my right not to tell anyone my vote. I’m so curious if this has changed over time- its terrible anyone feels not secure at home

One reason pollsters might be failing to pick up what and Seltzer picked up in Iowa, is a lot of women are afraid to say they are voting for Harris. Sharing stories yesterday after knocking doors in Pennsylvania, can't tell you the number of canvassers who had wives standing in the background while speaking to the husband and having them mouth something to the effect that they were voting for Harris. Or if they answered the door, they pretended to not say who they were voting for out loud and then whispered they were voting for Harris. It's kind of heartbreaking actually.

@d_la_reina Reagan was a super popular tv star, definitely western-state glam & power structure that pushed him forward, democrats then were very left of center, now they are center. Crime was high, gas shortages, economy was terrible, neither party would have attempted a coup though.

For work I end up talking to a lot of non-US econ policy people who have a question that boils down to "how can we replicate Silicon Valley," and I always tell them Americans barely know how to do it outside of California

@bfishbfish Agree, I grew up outside of Boston & while not right in the city in middle school we would hop the train for a 30 min ride into town & hang out in Harvard square or go to the MFA. By ourselves. It was amazing.

These posts about how cities only appeal to adults who won't grow up do a great job of ignoring the fact that plenty of people are born and raised in cities. Our parents weren't drinking espresso martinis at rooftop bars every night.

I grew up in New York City. Being a kid here ruled. And it definitely wasn't because of the concept restaurants or glut of bars. But you get to go to the Met, like, all the time if you want.

It's insane how the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum in Boston just had the largest art heist ever (600 million!) in 1990 and nobody knows anything about it and has zero leads and the heist was just two guys in fake mustaches showing up as cops and "arresting" the only two guards

@Intentional_Liv Our happy medium was when our teen started going to parties that went late we asked them to turn it on so if something happens at 1 am we could find/get to them. But I didn’t feel like I need to track a kid when they are going to school/sports/theater, etc.

My daughter who is 14 recently turned off her location sharing with us. She said it’s about privacy and she isn’t doing anything wrong. My husband said he will not pay her phone bills unless she turns it back on. I’m caught in the middle and could see it from both sides. Whose side are you on?

Two weeks before election, and the first Woman Presidential Nominee, Hillary Clinton has not campaigned with the Second Woman Presidential Nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, and they're both Democrats. Yet, President Clinton and President Obama has. I dont like this at all.

@AdamSinger Yeah but have you had to put a parent in elder care? It’s WILDLY expensive, not $20 M but for two people can easily whittle down $10M depending on the level of care/how long/what state. I would rather my parents hold onto their savings so it’s there for them to transition.

Have a friend like this. Parents worth closer to 20M. They live alone in giant house in fla, angry at the world most of the time. Kids are responsible & work hard, not rich. Truly strange phenomenon. Don't have a father so hard to relate, but seems weird to not level up your kids
