More work on the new ReSearcher. Normals baked and some quick basic smart materials slapped on. Still needs some work but it's time to retire the "6-7" shader I made to troll the boy.

@Pirat_Nation Yeah our power bills have tripled in the last few years in upstate NY but let's go after Valve for nonsense instead of National Grid amirite?
English

Valve has asked the court to throw out the New York Attorney General’s lawsuit, citing Pokémon cards, Happy Meals, and Labubus, accusing the company of illegal gambling through Counter-Strike weapon skin “cases.”
The lawsuit claims these mystery “cases” in Counter-Strike 2 and CS:GO let players, including kids, gamble real money by paying for a chance at rare virtual items
In a 42-page filing on May 19, Valve says the “cases” do not count as gambling under New York law because players always get a random weapon skin for the money they pay, just like buying sealed packs of baseball cards, Pokémon cards, or the toy in a cereal box.
The company says there is no “stake” or chance of losing money, as it is just the surprise element common in collectibles.
Valve warns that the Attorney General’s idea could make normal activities illegal, such as parents buying trading cards for their kids or families playing arcade games. The filing notes that these loot boxes have been sold for over ten years without objection from any other U.S. state.
Valve wants the court to dismiss the whole case “with prejudice.” If denied, the lawsuit seeks triple damages on billions of dollars Valve made, plus an order to stop sales to New York residents.

@GIGachu1312 Just power all the things, and keep them running stable long enough so everything comes on. Pretty simple game.

@NelsonTrevorR wait you're actually simulating fault isolation?? this is sick. what's the end goal

Added a little more to the side project. Circuit breakers isolate parts of the circuit to protect upstream systems from overloaded parts of the circuit. Heavy conduits add to the overall capacity of the circuit.

Final piece of the ship, the shell. I think it's time to move into the hub and start fixing up the factory area.

It's been a long journey but I'm happy with the ship interior now. It's not something players will spend a ton of time in, but I think the significance of it as the main transport within the gameplay loop means it needs love. Just need to paint the outside then it's back to hub details.

Happy #screenshotsaturday !
Been working on the mobile game side project some more. Added some pressure with a station integrity timer (accelerated by power surges). Added circuit capacity which overheats when the load is too much for the circuit, and some more visuals (just look at that emissive bloom!)

Started a mobile game side project this weekend (in between fixing my fence)
Pretty neat little tile connector power management game.

@senkijk I'm doing an art pass right now. I just set milestones for the core gameplay and when I reach them I circle back and do some polish. Sometimes I have to redo stuff but it's just a learning experience.

Fellow game devs, when into about 1 year of development, do you ever get the feeling of your game being "dirty" ? All I see when looking at my game are the unpolished bits and it sometimes makes me feel down.

-More work on texturing the ship / mission launch area. -A small look at the overall gameplay loop.
-The realization I need to tone down the bloom A LOT.
-The realization that I trimmed my 7x2x7 room incorrectly.
-The realization I need to pool my WorldItem prefabs so the game doesn't have an aneurism on first spawn.
Apologies for the stuttering, Windows was doing something and I had Substance Painter + Blender open at the same time.
I think I may be cooking now, IDK.

@SwarmMeGame I've already got a full career completely outside of game dev. I also have a family and a POS house i have to fix all the time. Solo dev is my only option, I couldn't hold a team with the rest of my stuff.

Happy #screenshotsaturday
More mission launch area WIP. Started texturing the airlock. More placeholder meshes, UVs unwrapped and hi-poly details in the works for baking.

Oh make no mistake, I've already unwrapped, baked, and textured all this in substance and put it in game lmao. This is the second iteration.
My biggest learning leaps in 3D/Blender has been learning how to rebuild, retopo, and redo without feeling like time was wasted and just learning from it.
English

@NelsonTrevorR Smart move locking proportions early. CAD taught me fixing geometry post-UV is basically self-torture.
English

Oh, hey, it's #screenshotsaturday again!
Been working on a UI refactor because my biggest play tester won't use mouse and keyboard like a man (it's my 12 year old son) so now I have to build in controller support for everything. But hey - now I have controller support.
