@JosiahRenaudin Know that this is your job, but kind of sucks seeing all this drama, and PS don't give a damn. I get the move of removing physical, but at least hear worries we have in terms of digital ownership. Consoles are not PC's, so the ownership of the digital games is very fragile.

@longislandviper Now this is what everyone should be doing.. right now. Sony will not change it's stand. We need to make the digital marketplace have real protections.

I dunno why people are lapping this up. Microsoft has made hardware for decades, and published for decades. It's possible that business models exist outside of how PlayStation defines things. Sorry.

@JezCorden What is this dude. Engine development is more complex than it was in 2016. That's why they increase the size of the studio properly. Support studios are fine, but they work with a custom engine, so difficulties with communication and efficiency will be hurt.

@longislandviper I would think Sony is interested, but in doing a 2nd party publishing agreement not a full acquisition. It would make sense given they don't have live-service success right now and are desperate for another one.

In our leaky space, I'm surprised how secretive the acquisition and/or publishing arrangements have been for the spun-out Xbox teams. I'm fascinated to learn what entities stepped in to fund these various teams' projects. Would Sony want a mostly-done GaaS like State of Decay?

@G27Status I know that this is what many wanted, but this comes like a mandate in order for the studio keep the lights on. I don't know if it will even surpass the mastery of the original New Vegas.. I still wish the best of luck to Obsidian.. But sucks they are doing it in this situation

@PlayStation I don't think you will get out of it so easily. Better do something with respect digital ownership concerns, and at least let PS5 games continue to have a physical disk. PS6 do whatever you want, I don't think people will upgrade either way given how shit things are right now

@Zuby_Tech Good, at least something is telling me they are going to rethink the whole strategy. If they are going full digital fine, but at least hear the concerns that the people have with respect of ownership of games and refund policy etc..

@GenePark That's the real issue, limiting the consumers option to get better prices to save money. This sucks. People just focus on the convenience of digital without thinking on the repercussions

cutting physical media cuts costs only for the company. they get to save on production, design, shipping and still charge the same thing with nothing being passed on to the consumer

@TechnicallyTee @Trevornoah Diskless editions of the PS5 accounted to just 20% of overall PS5 sales, before the slim console design. Also, there wasn't outrage because they give you the option. Now they aren't giving you any options they are telling you there's only one way only to buy games.

Salute to you for the reply. Now I am not knocking anyone where the only way you can get a game is second hand and on a budget. I never knock on someone's financial situation. For me gaming isn't that serious for me, but when was the last time that someone wakes up and the game is gone from their library? If that happens it would suck 100%. People got upset because of two things, I said that I don't care and that there is outrage. The outrage is funny because where was this outrage years ago when they made a digital only version of the PlayStation? There wasn't any outrage like this then, but when they say they aren't making any physical copies, now everyone is trying to boycott PS. We will see if people truly speak with their wallets because this small percentage is doing raging and its still not going to be enough to move the needle. I'm not knocking anyone who has a physical library, I love to see it but it depends on your own situation and whats better for you. My original tweet, I NEVER discredited anyone who prefers a physical copy. I realize this is Twitter and majority of people are bots.

I completely understand where you’re coming from, but for a lot of gamers physical discs are the only way they could afford to play games because they could get them secondhand. You can also give games to your younger siblings Which is a great way to introduce them to the games you were playing. Most importantly though, as we saw from PlayStation this past week, if the media we buy is only digital, it can be taken away from us at a moment’s notice with no recourse. Imagine that, one day your entire library of games could be deleted overnight because technically you don’t own it.

jfc, I just got word of a list of Xbox studio closures (no, not posting them). If it's even close to true (and it's from inside) this will likely be the largest single layoff event in gaming history. Xbox is going to be supremely unpopular for a very long time and the devastation is going to reverberate like the meteor that took out the dinosaurs. On top of all that there will also be layoffs at the studios that remain.
