35 inches of rain in a single week. That's what some areas of Hawaii recorded beginning March 10, and it wasn't a hurricane. It was a Kona low. A series of these winter storms hammered some areas of Hawaii with historic rainfall, producing what's being called the worst flooding in over two decades. The harder stat? Hawaii's NFIP residential flood insurance penetration rate is just 3.8%. Roughly 96% of homes had no flood coverage.

Colorado just recorded its worst snowpack in 41 years — and it peaked a month early. Most people see bare mountains and assume flood season is off the table. It's not. In an interview with @NPetallides, @NeptuneFlood CEO @dartmouth94 said the company went public on the same day its main competitor closed for business. The company’s first trade comes as the U.S. government has shut down, meaning the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) isn’t accepting applications or processing new claims.
