Why do so many Uber drivers drive around with silent videocalls to random people? I just got out of an Uber with “Ahmed” in Brussels. He had a video call on with his friend, another Ahmed or Mohammed, but they don’t speak. They just have the camera on. What in God’s name is the point of this?

I have a confession to make. I often tell my irl opponents that I topdecked the answer that won me the game. But I actually had it in my hand saved for a few turns now. I do this so they feel better that they could have won if only I didn't get lucky. I wish I would stop.

Reposting because my other message was unclear: We settled the market to last traded price before time of death (per our rules). All positions, no matter when they were opened, got paid out on the last-traded price before his death. On top of that, if you bought a position yesterday (post time of death) for a higher price, we reimbursed you the difference between the price you bought and the last traded price before time of death. In addition, we reimbursed all fees paid in the total market for all users.

On Khamenei: We don’t list markets directly tied to death. When there are markets where potential outcomes involve death, we design the rules to prevent people from profiting from death. That is what we did here. I know some of you disagree and prefer that we list these markets without a death carveout because it keeps the rules simple and because many traditional markets, like oil futures, can be proxy markets for war and death. But we believe that’s different than having a market directly settling on someone’s death, which is not allowed for US regulated entities. What’s the point of the market, then? A market on Ali Khamenei out as Supreme Leader was important because leadership changes in Iran have major impact on the world order: • geopolitical implications • economic consequences • national security considerations • oil and commodity prices, many of which move based on news and expectations around this outcome And it’s always possible for a ruler to step down or transition power without death, even in autocracies. I genuinely want crypto to proliferate on X, but applications that create incentives to spam, raid, and harass random users is not the way. It meaningfully degrades the experience for millions of people — only to enrich a few people. i've heard most of the @steipete interview and there's a couple of very contradictory messages... on one hand: he claims to be losing around $10k to $20k a month on maintaining @openclaw... on the other: he disses the crypto movement from trying to tokenize his projects and being very spammy. i understand his prejudice towards spammy agents trying to open your eyes about @bankrbot or similar tokenizing systems, i held those views myself... but peter: there's probably at least $100k in fees waiting for you on these token networks, if not way more. open your eyes my man.
