@santisiri El equity no es gratis. No devolverás con intereses pero le diste 7% de tu empresa a YC a cambio de unas monedas. Son costos diferentes y pensados para objetivos y momentos distintos. 😅

@pbarbieri igual desde ya creo que se exagera un poco para remarcar más el argumento.. también es válido decir que stanford inventó la idea de tener equity sobre los papers que producen sus alumnos que se transforman en startups (caso google). yc destila esa idea llevándola a un extremo.

I’ve always thought the English and the Argentinians have far more in common than either side likes to admit. Back in the late 1990s, I was sent to Buenos Aires for a few months to advise a bank. The city was booming. The dollar-peso peg was still in place, the restaurants were full and everyone appeared to be spending money they assumed would remain valuable. Although, as so often is the case in Argentina, economic disaster was waiting politely around the corner. I had been put up alone in an enormous mock-Tudor house in the suburbs. Each morning, I commuted into the city, offered my wisdom and returned home in time for a solitary glass of Malbec. On the third evening, there was a knock at the door. Half the neighbourhood had arrived, carrying meat and wine. Within minutes, they had occupied the garden, lit a fire and begun cooking what remains one of the finest meals I have ever eaten. From that point, I didn't eat alone for the rest of my stay. Before long, I was known affectionately as "el inglés", and the entire street had begun interfering in my personal life. I was set up on dates, lectured on the inadequacies of English football and, within a fortnight, persuaded to begin psychoanalysis. That is Argentina. You arrive as a guest and very quickly find yourself with a nickname, being fed, contradicted and treated like family. We share with them a self-deprecating humour and a wistful fondness for some grander, half-remembered past. I have ever since admired the Argentinians for possessing something we British always struggle with. The emotional courage to say what we really think.

"podría ser" dice el chantún de Harari leí todo el reportaje, tira una serie de lugares comunes que rozan la vergüenza ajena. Pero vamos a la IA: todos los ejemplos que da sobre el peligro de la IA son hipotéticos y potenciales. Pero ninguno real y concreto. Dice que la IA "podría" generar sus propias armas para matar (?!) y que en 5 o 10 años dominará el sistema financiero generando muchísimo dinero y cosas así. Da ejemplos infantiles. Dice que la IA podría inventar una nueva religión. Dice que la IA es el mayor experimento sociológico de la historia pero aclara que "nadie sabe sus consecuencias y que sus efectos son "imprevisibles". Entonces? Pero el colmo de su estafa es cuando dice el cliché de que la democracia está en peligro por la IA y las redes sociales, que expanden "la rabia y EL MIEDO". Sí, sí. El mismo miedo que él se ocupa de expandir en cada intervención pública y desde sus redes! en fin... una vez más Harari y sus miedos y paranoias personales que no sabemos si son reales o puro marketing para, por supuesto, llegar a vender 45 millones de libros y cobrar 50 mil dólares por charlas donde lo unico que hace es infundir miedo a la IA y siempre en potencial. Lo que dice que podría pasar después nunca ocurre. Pero lo que sí ocurre: engorda su cuenta bancaria.

@thibauld @santisiri @rauchg Indeed. I used to be a fan of Argentina and Messi but the list of favors has become too big to ignore to brush it off under just “envy”. FIFA has finally found a way for me Belgian to support France. That was definitely not on my bingo card for 2026.
