Alright @OntarioFarms , this is needed here. Alberta has shown us it can be done.
If we don’t make it easier for farms to run trucks to haul produce, we will have more tractors pulling trailers on the road, and even with air brakes, they aren’t nearly as safe as a truck.

@Wilsonfarmgrain @FarmersEdgeAC Probably one of the toughest, longest lasting sprayers ever built. If anyone is interested in a 6300 hr unit, I’ll buy this one.

@clintwfischer Definitely more to the story why they are all not on speaking terms after dad dies.

A 4th generation dairy farmer would like #AgX to weigh in on ideas…
◦ Corporation owns the dairy & crop enterprise
◦ Dad passed 7 yrs ago & left the corp:
→ Mom at 75% and Brother #1 at 25%
◦ Farmer and Brother #2 run the dairy
◦ Brother #1 runs the crop enterprise
◦ 3 off-farm siblings
Rough relationship between Brother #1 & rest of siblings… haven’t spoken in years
Mom runs the corp & pays all bills Brother #1 incurs for the crop side without question.
Farmer also works off the dairy & farms some with an Uncle. Has multiple local farms wanting his help.
Obviously more to the story than fits in an X post, but Farmer has 2 concerns:
1. Farmer & siblings want Mom to put her foot down & cease being walked all over by Brother #1… but don’t know how to approach her when the discussion inevitably leads to tears.
2. What’s Farmer do to protect his young & growing family?
Here's my thoughts, simplified:
1. Siblings try to convince Mom to outsource the bookkeeping and bill payment to a neutral accountant/manager.
She still oversees the corp, but this provides accountability & guard rails to Brother #1's currently unlimited piggy bank.
2. Farmer continues to grow his separate operation w/ Uncle + his other off-farm work to insulate his family's livelihood should things go sideways with the family farm corp.
Looking forward to seeing others' takes!

@clintwfischer It’s appalling that multi million dollar ag enterprises that require hard work in hazardous conditions and operating multi million dollar equipment believes that you’re competing against McD for employees.
You’re not.
You’re competing against teamsters and operating engineers

@ThatWelshFarmer You must remember does your farm pay for your pickup your home heat, hydro ,taxes, fuel ,insurances? The working man or women have to pay all that out of there wages. And don't forget they pay hst on everything. And can't write off a thing.

@jwagner_5 @soilwarrior It’s got tires, motor, and a place to sit. Simple and reliable. That’s all we want. The big, comfortable cab and cool paint job are a bonus

@MaizeingPete @KenDeCorte I drove for 20yrs you always have to anticipate those kinds of situations. Seen them on a weekly basis.

@MaizeingPete @KenDeCorte Both drivers truck should have been slowing down to anticipate what the car was might do and car shouldn't have crossed over the ramp like that.
