@TeamYouTube I'm guessing you can't put me in touch with the user. So a long-dormant channel, apparently abandoned, can never be closed or re-assigned? Is there no other option re: the handle or acquisition of the rights to this one from it's registered user?

A year from now the US will celebrate it's Semiquincentennial. I can recall much planning, acknowledgement and anticipation that preceded the Bicentennial in 1976 (my icon is it's logo). I don't see that now. The apparent lack of pride in our nation is worrisome.
