The most stable period of the series for Anaheim so far. Not too high or low. No prolonged stretches of dominance for either side. Chances for both teams. Only concern is the penalty taking.

My guess is there’s more to it than this reason alone. Among the possibilities: - Maybe they like having a LHP vs. TOR. - Ureña is fresh, and they had very few options for the 5th spot Tue anyway. - This move aligns the 5th spot in the rotation better with Caden Dana’s schedule.

I wonder if this is to split Kikuchi and Detmers to prevent teams from getting a similar look back to back days

I don’t think Suzuki has made a ton of bad bullpen decisions this year; however Zeferjahn going past an inning never works. It’s been this way for two years now

The Angels offensive approach this year is quite unique. The team has fully embraced the “three true outcomes” model. The team leads the MLB in strike outs and walks, and is second in Homers.

@SCHANUEL_SZN Fair... I think this was a relatively innocuous loss. Trust me, there will be much worse later in the year. So far this season is going much better then anyone could have foreseen

Letting Pomeranz, Silseth and Romano ROT on the bullpen bench is atrocious managing. Innings given to “Shaun Anderson” is ridiculous.

@SCHANUEL_SZN There are going to be much worse egregious things that happen later this season. The team is bad this year. This was a relatively fun loss. I don’t think I’d get too worked up about this one

@NetoOhoppefan it’s the equivalent of benching a hitter for 7 games and expecting him to be ready to go. it’s on both of them, just awful all around.

@SCHANUEL_SZN Siselth and Pomeranz pitched in the last two days… Romano hasn’t pitched since the 6th which is 6 days ago, today being the 7th. In the 5 games in those 6 days there has not been a clear and obvious spot for Romano to pitch. He’s a grown man. He should of been ready to go

@NetoOhoppefan They left their closer and two setup men without pitching for 8 days straight. This isn’t talking solely about tonight. Awful managing of Kurt throwing a guy into a big spot completely cold and rusty.

I know I mentioned on the pod that they needed to win 3 of the next 5 to guarantee their spot, and this win would be a huge boost to that.

Two very impressive periods done for the Ducks in what is the most important game played by this team since probably 2018. Now they have to finish the job and continue the defensive structure into the third period, while not allowing the Sharks to gain a footing
