All #Nets News & Insights from two brothers who argue like Kyrie and the Nets front office
New York, NY Katılım Temmuz 2025

Been a while since my last post, but feel like it’s time to get active again.
Last few days have been a whirlwind for sure, but not giving up on this team. In light of getting the #6 pick in the draft, I’m curious to hear what Nets fans think we should do next.
1. Draft one of Acuff, Flemings, Mikel Brown, or Wagler
2. Trade up in the draft to a top 4 pick (if even possible)
3. Use the 6th pick in a package for a star player
I think 1 is the safest bet in terms of long term flexibility and star hunting later on. Any trade for a top 4 pick will likely be a massive overpay.

@BillyReinhardt @netsnetsnet Tough to attract veterans to a team that has no interest in competing. They'll want to sign with playoff-caliber teams. We'll have a better shot at a top-3 pick.... Do you trust Marks with all of these future draft picks? It's hard to get on his side.
English

@Netsbros @netsnetsnet Doesn’t need to be All-Stars next year. They can add good veterans who improve the talent level and get this team competitive again as the young core grows.
Or they can land top-3 by luck and that might lure stars.
English

Spot on. The large majority of Nets fans wanted to tank/have a homegrown build yet many of the same fans are now apparently frustrated by the slow process of development for 19-year olds rookies.
Oh, the irony. It’s five games into each of the rookies’ NBA careers. It will take at least two years before we can make any real longterm judgments on any of them. Patience.
Charles@BlockedByBamba
This is why large market teams are afraid to tank, there isn’t patience amongst a large group of people expecting immediate results. It’s unfair to the teenagers as well
English

@BillyReinhardt @netsnetsnet How do you attract talent when you only win 15 games and have zero All-Stars? We attracted stars when Kenny was here and our underdog team won 42 games — the other NY team was the worst team in the East that year. Roles are reversed. The talent will most likely look elsewhere
English

@Netsbros @netsnetsnet They will be doing everything they can to attract talent starting this summer in all likelihood
English

Let’s talk about it.
0–5 isn’t that surprising, but it still hurts. And here’s the real problem — there’s no benefit to being this bad. Tanking doesn’t guarantee anything under the current lottery system. Cooper Flagg is playing for the Mavericks...
So what are we left with as fans? Years of bad basketball with very little to look forward to. Even if we land a top-5 or top-10 pick, why should we trust Sean Marks to get it right? He just had an NBA-record 5 first-round picks in one cycle and not one looks like a high-level impactful player. And yes I'll even say our recent picks — Claxton, Clowney, and Cam Thomas are in that conversation. If they were clear building blocks, we’d see it by now. Cam Thomas doesn't want to be here and the Nets don't seem to have any interest in keeping him, Claxton isn't worth his $100M contract and Clowney isn't that great.
At some point, accountability matters. The front office put us here, and there’s no clear path out. Maybe it’s time to move on from Marks (please) — and honestly, I wouldn’t mind new ownership either. This organization needs a real direction again.
I'd imagine if the team loses it first 8-10 games we will start hearing "Sell the Team" and or "Fire Marks"
I love this team. But I don’t love what they’ve done to it.
English

Billy — huge fan of your work. I just don’t understand why the organization is going in this direction. When have we ever built a championship contender through the draft? The early 2000s teams weren’t, and neither was our recent success. In a big market like NY, you do everything you can to win and attract talent. Curious to hear your thoughts — is it time for the organization to move on from Sean Marks and take a new approach?
English

Their strategy isn’t for maximum fan enjoyment through the losing, it’s to maximize the development of each player. It’s detrimental to throw rookies out there when they aren’t ready. Look how bad Traore looked. Small steps, let them earn/prove they deserve that opportunity. Create a competitive culture instead of one where draft picks are guaranteed playing time.

It feels like the Warriors & Jonathan Kuminga are going through something very similar to what the Nets & Cam Thomas are dealing with.
Both teams are showing signs they’re not fully bought in on their young talent—and both players are responding by holding their ground in contract talks.
Just a thought, but what if the teams explored a sign-and-trade: Kuminga for Cam Thomas, straight up?
Kuminga’s reportedly been on the Nets’ radar, and I’m not sure what kind of return the Warriors are expecting from other teams. Cam on the Warriors would be fascinating—instant offense off the bench or next to Steph in spurts.
I doubt the Warriors are seriously interested, but on the off chance they are… would you do a Kuminga-for-Cam swap?
Curious to hear what others think.

MPJ Stats – Last 3 Seasons + 2026 Prediction
(GP / PTS / REB / AST / FG% / 3PT%)
Drop your thoughts below 👇
2023: 62 GP – 17.4 / 5.5 / 1.0 – 58% FG / 41% 3PT
2024: 81 GP – 16.7 / 7.0 / 1.5 – 57% FG / 39% 3PT
2025: 77 GP – 18.2 / 7.0 / 2.1 – 60% FG / 39% 3PT
***2026 (Predicted): 68 GP – 20.1 / 6.5 / 2.2 – 52% FG / 37% 3PT
MPJ’s scoring should increase with more opportunity to be the #1 or #2 option on this team. His rebounding has always been solid, and while his playmaking might improve slightly, it’s just not his game.
With more usage and tougher shots, I expect a small dip in efficiency—but his production should still hold up. The question is whether he can stay healthy and lead with consistency.
What are your expectations for MPJ this year? Let’s hear it. 🔊

With the Nets reportedly offering Cam Thomas a 2-year, $14M deal, let’s talk about it.
If you’re Cam, how insulted do you feel?
Do you take the qualifying offer and bet on yourself?
Here’s the reality: It’s almost August, and there are zero teams publicly showing interest—let alone offering a deal big enough to force Brooklyn to match. That says more about how Cam is viewed around the league than it does about the Nets being cheap.
If I’m Cam, I take the QO and play my heart out this season.
There’s no better opportunity than the one in front of him:
•A young roster
•Low expectations
•A system that gives him freedom to score
•Plenty of minutes up for grabs
This is your moment to prove you’re more than just a bucket-getter. Be a leader, stay healthy, put up numbers, help this team win some games—and you’ll earn the contract you’re looking for.
Cam’s only 23. He’s got plenty of time. But this season could shape the entire trajectory of his career—if he plays his cards right.

What are your thoughts on Egor after Game 4?
Stat Line:
14 PTS | 5 REB | 0 AST | 6 TOs
4/8 from 3PT | +3
It’s a bit of a messy stat line for the #8 overall pick, but he finished strong and helped secure his first win in a Nets jersey.
Would love to hear your early impressions of his performance so far.
We’ll have a more detailed breakdown coming soon.

@abscinding I’m going to say 2 to start the szn, and transition to 3 at some point in the first 29 games.
I think ZW deserves a chance to start again, plus we can use some primary ball handlers in the 2nd unit - I think Traore would be the right guy to start

Nets Fans - How are we feeling about this Cam Thomas situation?
Would you rather throw a bag at him now (~30M/year) and see if he earns his keep or potentially move him if we can’t seem to come to a long term agreement?
I love Cam Thomas, and I believe he’s a prolific scorer fs, but I don’t see a clear role for him in this Nets rebuild anymore.
Would love to see him stay, but only at the right price…

English

I’m sure a majority of Nets fans agree, but sometimes all you can do is move on
We drafted these guys - and we can either root for their development or be miserable. Getting this behind the scenes definitely helps see the vision more clearly.
Also, I have seen bigger projects workout, and ‘Sure thing’ players fall off so quickly. Let’s be patient and give these guys the chance they all deserve
English

Although I didn’t agree with majority of the decisions during the draft I appreciate them giving us the behind the scenes as to why they picked em. Hopefully it all works out 🙏🏽

Two games in: Which rookie will have the biggest impact this season—Traore, Egor, Wolf, or Saraf?
I think it comes down to two: Egor and Traore. I honestly see Wolf and Saraf spending a good chunk of the season developing with the Long Island Nets. So let’s break it down:
Egor-
As the 8th overall pick, he’s going to get minutes—at least early in the season. Through two Summer League games, he’s had a few flashes (his passing and shooting touch are real), but overall, he's looked underwhelming.
He hasn’t taken over games the way you'd hope from a lottery pick, and I worry he might struggle to keep up with NBA-level athleticism and pace.
That said, because of the investment the Nets made in him, I expect he’ll be given the biggest opportunity to make an impact—even if it’s a rocky start.
Nolan-
I’ve really liked what I’ve seen so far. He was the only starter with a positive +/- in Game 1 and somehow didn’t start Game 2, which was surprising.
He’s got speed, athleticism, confidence, and plays with urgency—everything you want in a modern guard.
But early in the season, I see him buried in the rotation unless injuries or a disgruntled Cam Thomas open the door.
Still, if he keeps this up, he’ll force his way into minutes as the season progresses. He might not have the biggest initial impact—but long term, I could see him being the most impactful rookie by the time the season wraps.
Let’s discuss.
Who are you most excited about?
And are we sure Jordi doesn’t throw a wild card into the mix?

Weight room, shooting reps, dribbling drills, sprints—the kid needs it all. He’s the biggest project out of the top 10 picks, and it’s not even close. I agree with you 100%.
Traore is our best pick.
(My brother—who posted this—is way more bullish on Egor than I am. He's being oblivious about this guy.)
English

@Netsbros Let's be real here. This guy needs to get in the weight room and work on being a wing. He doesn't look or play like a top 10 pick. Lotta work to do.
English

Just caught this Egor Demin pregame interview
Love his demeanor, and how he’s trying to stay true to himself. No reason to fall in to these player comparison traps early on….
Just have to mold your game by copying and learning from others.
Dedicated kid that loves the game - have to be patient with him, but I am starting to see what the Nets front office did in him
