@BillyReinhardt I’m done trading our own first rounders five years out. We have to break this cycle.

ESPN’s NBA Insiders propose a Jalen Williams-Michael Porter Jr. swap between Brooklyn and OKC this offseason. Deal or no deal from Brooklyn’s perspective?

@BillyReinhardt It doesn’t make any sense. If the rule in place to stop teams from hoarding talent this doesn’t do that at all.

Say Brooklyn landed the #1 pick in ‘26, Houston, who controls BKN’s ‘27 pick, would have been ineligible for #1 in ‘27. Also, if the Nets even landed top 5 in both ‘25 and ‘26, the ‘27 BKN pick that Houston owns would have been barred from the top-5. Who makes this stuff up?
Billy Reinhardt@BillyReinhardt

The NBA is trying to implement lottery reform that states no team can land first in two consecutive drafts, or in the top five in three consecutive drafts, which makes some sense. However, the NBA is proposing that this rule also applies to traded picks. Meaning, say a team has traded their 2028 pick away but they win the #1 pick in 2027 — the 2028 pick, despite being owned by a different team, will be unable to land #1. Moronic.

Any chance Milwaukee would consider Ryan Rollins and #10 for #6? Bucks get a high upside guard to anchor their rebuild, Brooklyn gets a two-way guard who complements Egor Dëmin well in the backcourt and a chance to add another good young player, without the same upside, at 10.

I'm about to make the case for the Nets acquiring a former all star, not a sexy name, I expect some push back, but I do think it is strong move for the team given the current situation Any guesses?

Keaton Wagler, whom KOC compares to Tyrese Haliburton and Kevin Martin, to Brooklyn at #6 in this mock — ahead of Mikel Brown Jr. and Darius Acuff Jr. KOC also drops some intel: “Multiple league sources have connected Brooklyn to Michigan center Aday Mara and Tennessee freshman forward Nate Ament.”

Feel confident that if the Clippers and Nets stick at 5 and 6, Keaton Wagler and Mikel Brown Jr. will be the two players that come off the board first after the top-4. I think the Clippers go Wagler but hope Wagler falls to 6. I’m a fan of MBJ as well, though, and think he’s a good pick at 6.

There is “virtually no chance” that the LA Clippers use a top-5 pick on a center, per @LawMurrayTheNU. (via nytimes.com/athletic/72686…)

@netsnetsnet Like I said - there’s grace for this year. It’s super early. But they had picks 8, 19, 26, 27 and 36. And it returned win share (not a perfect stat!) ranks of: 23, 27, 37, 54 and 55. The only players who ranked after those last two spots did not play in the nba this year.

It’s super rare to have a guard with Mikel’s 3pr who can also get to the rim / is athletic AND can play make Usually guys with that 3pr are not guys who are athletes / drivers which makes him super intriguing Jordi will love him and let him spam 10 threes a game

Prediction: two players outside the top 4 of this draft will be in the top 3 players of this class when it’s all said and done. *A lot* of focus on the top 4 guys, there’s some hoopers slipping through the cracks.

@BillyReinhardt @Jersey2Brooklyn im with @ocksportello on this one: "I’m partial to aura, myself; the way Acuff wears his cutoff is really sick, he’s basically Darryn Peterson without the White Monster poisoning, and while defense wins championships, don’t kid yourself." Nets are cursed, let's just have some fun

That could happen — just pushing back on the idea that an organization should ever taken generating excitement into consideration for moves. The moves should all be aimed to produce winning. It’s possible that winning moves could be exciting ones, but the sole focus has to be on winning.
