This. Attacking the result rather than addressing the root of the problem gets people nowhere. Very few children are 'bad', they just have things going on that need support. Look at the difference Freddie Flintoff and positive reinforcement made with those young guys in Preston.
BBC Radio 4 Today@BBCr4today

"You can't physically chuck a 13-year-old over a school gate and say: ‘Go on, get in.’" Actor Anna Maxwell Martin, who's navigated the SEND system as a parent, tells #R4Today that attitude is just as important as funding to help support children with special educational needs.

Over half of ppl with MS are 50+, yet trials, treatment guidelines & diagnostic tools have not kept pace, say top neuros in "Call to Action" in @NatRevNeurol. Result: diagnosis blind spots, under-treatment & missed opportunities. Lead author:@anneke_vdw bit.ly/3IIZRQM

@Jane_Samuels Except that in this case the Observer article (regarding the embezzlement) is all true. I know this for a fact.

Sad to see the once-renowned Observer reduced to a tattle-tale Daily Mail-type tabloid publishing a journalist who has a history of false claims digging dirt on the Salt Path Author...
Jane Samuels@Jane_Samuels

Investigative journalist Chloe Hadjimatheou now works for Tortoise/Observer. In 2021 BBC Executive Complaints Unit (ECU) upheld a complaint she failed to meet Corporation's editorial standards for accuracy by reporting false claims. Her recent piece crucifies the Salt Path author

Salt Path. Raynor Winn’s statement says “He’s got CBD and here are the doctors’ letters to prove it”. Some of which say “He hasn’t got CBD.” Did she just hope no-one would read them?

@PippaN15 @RealJakeBroe ...and Trooping the Colour had nothing on the parade for the King's Coronation. All active service men and women. To me not marching in step for a national parade suggests a lack pride - surely you want to show off your best side? Not saunter along willy-nilly, world watching.

@RealJakeBroe Soldiers can do both. Yesterday's UK Trooping of the Colors includes infantry marching in complex ceremonial manoeuvres & engaging in active combat, eg in Iraq and Afghanistan. The same is true in Bastille Day for members of all services eg for the French Foreign Legion.

Okay, people are genuinely confused why members of the US army can't actually march in unison like the Russians or the North Koreans. The reason why is because all these soldiers have real jobs in the military and nobody (beyond ceremonial units) ever does any marching once out of basic training and their tech school. These soldiers spend their days doing important work to defend our nation. They don't ever practice marching. Trump demanded they all stop being productive at their jobs to waste time and taxpayer money to march in a parade for his amusement.

Vitamin D isn't just a vitamin—it's a steroid hormone that regulates over 5% of your entire genome Yet over 70% of Americans don't have adequate vitamin D levels, severely limiting their immune function, mood regulation, and cognitive health Clinical evidence points to blood levels of 40-60 ng/mL being the sweet spot Supplementing with 4,000 IU daily typically moves people from deficiency to sufficient levels (in general, 1,000 IU raises blood levels by roughly 5–10 ng/mL)

In a two-year randomized controlled trial involving 573 older adults, daily multivitamin use slowed cognitive aging by two years. Improvements in episodic memory performance were even more striking, equivalent to ~five years of preserved memory function. A larger meta-analysis of over 5,000 individuals across three trials confirmed these effects, showing consistent gains in global cognition and memory compared to placebo. These findings are especially relevant given that most Americans have insufficient intake of multiple essential micronutrients. The multivitamin used in the study was not exotic - it contained 20 essential vitamins and minerals, along with the carotenoids lutein and lycopene, which are known to accumulate in the brain and retina and influence cognitive and visual function.
FoundMyFitness Clips@fmfclips

A daily multivitamin might actually reverse brain aging The COSMOS study—a comprehensive meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials—found older adults taking a multivitamin were less likely to suffer memory loss and cognitive dysfunction Moreover, their overall cognitive health improved measurably, equivalent to having a brain two years younger

Good lord...we are still talking about the dangers of concussions?? It's NOT concussions that are the problem, it's the long term exposure to Repetitive Head Impacts thst is causing the damage. Lowering exposure is the ONLY way to lower risk. WAKE UP theguardian.com/sport/2013/dec…

In 1945, six women pulled off a computing miracle. They programmed the world’s first computer—with no manuals, no training. Then, a SINGLE assumption erased them from tech history for decades. The story of how ONE photo nearly deleted computing’s female founders: 🧵
