At a seminar, a male presenter showed a graph and said “I don’t know why we chose these colors,” and then called what was clearly dark gray to me “dark blue” and the magenta “purple.” Subtle differences, but made me wonder: Do you think abt color blindness when making figures?

@Andrew_Akbashev Easily the number 1 lesson I learnt from my PhD, looking back I can’t believe how little I got done in my first year 🤣

PhD is NOT about learning how to work 12h / day. It is NOT about mastering the art of working on weekends. PhD is about learning how to be efficient. How to spend much less time on the same task. How to work smart and creatively. It's kind of obvious, but... Instead of pushing your students to work harder, help them become more efficient. #phdlife #AcademicChatter
