Nothing sums up the poverty of civic leadership in the city like a crowd of people photographing a derelict pub that campaigners have spent years trying to reopen. Those leaders bleat about ‘opportunity’ and ‘ambition’ but can’t recognise it when it’s staring them in the face.

So today, Birmingham says goodbye Black Sabbath & goodbye ELO Our rehearsal spaces are now flats Our recording studios are now flats Our venues are now flats Without venues like The Crown, closed for 11yrs, chances of developing future icons like Ozzy are virtually impossible

The Crown was Black Sabbath's home. Generations of Brum musicians have been denied that chance. That HAS to change. 1968: 3rd Sep / 16th Sep / 12th Nov / 26th Nov / 3rd Dec 1969: 7th Jan / 25th Mar / 13th May / 10th June / 22nd Jul / 22nd Sep / 19th Oct 1970: 13th Jan / 29th Aug

This pub should be open & serving the best Brum-brewed pints and food. This pub should be open & full of Brum bands making exciting, weird, world changing music. This pub should be open & owned by the people of Birmingham. For the people of Birmingham. Forever.

Birmingham. Every time a politician talks about Black Sabbath this week remind them that without venues like The Crown, The Electric or The Futurist (all closed) then chances of today's working class Brummies changing the world through art like Sabbath did are almost nonexistent

Time for @lisanandy & @RhonddaBryant to find the money to save the UK's most historic grassroots arts street... Birmingham's Station Street - from the clutches of negligent dvelopers who have failed The Crown, The Electric & Birmingham?

57 years. 75 million records. @BlackSabbath didn’t just make music — they made history. Ozzy, Tony, Bill, Geezer. From a Small Heath girl to four boys from Aston: thank you.

Left a bday party in town tonight at 2am. My uber didn’t end up picking me up for about 15 minutes. In that time I was catcalled (from both cars and in person) at least 10 times, simply stood there minding my own business. Men who enjoy making women feel uncomfortable are garbage

Birmingham must shout out about its red brick terracotta style builds. Our heritage and culture is just as important as our growth. Plans with funding is coming together to bring back our highly popular interactive digital map of the city. Photos courtesy @Daniel_Sturley
