@TejasRanger1836 This is referring to the Son. The Word. The Bible is not some preexistant text that just appeared one day without authorship or development lmao. What are you a muslim?
English

@GeoChonker Abstinence from Church History is a requirement for Baptists tho
English

Absolute abstinence from alcohol is not mandatory to be a Baptist.

⚠️ ATTENTION CATHOLICS: A CRUCIAL WARNING ⚠️
- To all my lovely followers.
We must address a serious issue regarding certain rosaries circulating today.
The image provided illustrates a disturbing alteration to the traditional crucifix. You will notice that the customary "INRI" has been replaced by three distinct vertical lines (III).
While "3" often symbolizes the Holy Trinity, in this specific, twisted theology, it is interpreted differently to promote a dark message.
In this context, the symbol "III" is used numerically. Here is the calculations used: The first "I" represents 3, the second "I" represents 3, and the third "I" represents 3.
When these three numbers are placed side-by-side, the calculation will arrive in 333.
This is intentionally misleading. While it may not look like it, this is a calculated attempt to make you comfortable with a number, which, when doubled, is just one step away from the ultimate symbol of human imperfection and evil: 666.
This design is a mockery of our faith.
Protect your soul and avoid these crucifixes.
PLEASE BE EXTREMELY VIGILANT. 🤔✝️

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad Sorry can’t post long responses. But what I referenced seems to be the exact thing that’s taking place here.
English

This is what happens when you don’t read your bible.

@ZoethHowland @sola_chad I think you ought to take a good look at how it is that you started this conversation, and a longer look in the mirror
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad Impatient? No. I simply don't appreciate people who are disingenuous.
English

@TejasRanger1836 The Word of God and God's word are too different things. The former refers to Jesus Christ, the Son, spoken before all time. God's word is the Holy Scripture as delivered to us through the prophets and Gospel and Epistolic authors, inspired by the Holy Spirt
English

The Roman Catholic Church, ladies and gentlemen.
They’ll be here all night, be sure to tip your waitress.

@TheBibleIsJesus @TejasRanger1836 Yea the Word of God is different from the Bible
English

@ZoethHowland @sola_chad Impatient little fella arent you. I didnt realize you liked prayers to be rushed
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad Nothing further? If not, I guess that shows me how insincere and petty your "prayer" for me was then. Amazing to me how arrogant some Roman Catholics are.
English

But surely you recognize that this isn't like the service or reverence given to Baal or any other false deity for the sheer fact that those in participation are fully aware and openly affirm that these bones are not a deity. They acknowledge that these are the bones of nothing more than a man of particular piety, of whom God was pleased to have granted miracles in life.
God instructs us many times in the Bible to show respect and love towards our forebears, including their earthly remains. What these Orthodox Parishioners are doing is not worshipping a false god they see in the bones, it is fulfillment of the one true God's command to honor the fallen, and the hope that God - not the bones of the saint - will work for them a miracle in their lives as He did when the pious man was still alive. I see no issue with this.
As I see it, this is ultimately all still directed towards the One True God, the Father Son and Holy Spirit, as they saw the miracles that God worked through men in their lives, in the hopes of receiving still God's miracles.
In regards to my comparisons to all other things, like fear, love, etc. It was to demonstrate that these things alone do not in their basic form represent worship.
In fact worship is something quite unique of any of these things, and something Id be glad to go into with more time
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad This seems very apparent that it’s the same type of posture that God forbids. It’s in a religious sense, not civil or political authority, but religious!
English

@ZoethHowland @sola_chad I pray you one day come to understand it. Though I must say, with the Holy Spirit, it is very perspicuous.
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad "Those" being the ones in the picture. That's pretty clear. But thanks for the snark about the Bible. Scripture is God-breathed, and any misunderstanding is routinely in the one handling it.
English

Just posted an explanation on your 2nd reply. But I would say, every person is indoctrinated into their beliefs in that we are given the education of what we believe and why. Even the atheist is indoctrinated, and I would say you are aswell. I am comfortable making that assertion because I know that I also am indoctrinated in my faith, Ive been taught about it, the whats and why's and surely so have you.
I would say though. Ive only recently become a Catholic, baptized this year, and received most of my education prior to joining the Church. It was through studying the Scripture and the writings of early Christians, as well as modern theologians both Protestant and Catholic, that I came to hold my beliefs.
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad No because it’s common with people who are indoctrinated, but I appreciate the same critique. So I’ll ask. Explain to me why this isn’t idolatry
English

Exodus 20:12 "Honor thy father and thy mother..."
My mom and dad aren't God, would honoring them be idolatry? I have affection for my parents as well. I give service to them when they ask me to come down and help with something at their house. Is this Idolatry?
I fear heights, do I idolize heights?
The only of your definitions I find to be Biblically accurate to God's definition of Idolatry would be worship. I absolutely agree, worshipping bones or anything other than God for that matter would be Idolatry. However, kissing isnt worship, otherwise we would be in worship of our wives and children. Care isnt worship, otherwise we would be worshipping the bodies of our loved ones when we bury them.
The Bible gives us a definition of worship, and it is far deeper than simple acts of reverence, love, honor, etc.
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad Idolatry is honor, service, worship, fear, affection or devotion to any created thing or person other than God the creator.
English

Very presumptive. But I have to ask, if I did have answers to your respective arguments, why would that be a bad thing that youd have to avoid making those arguments in the first place? Do the hypothetical answers to your arguments which I couldnt realistically premeditate cause some issue for your faith?
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad Because it’s self explanatory. You have some premeditated argument based an an assumptive answer(s) you expect me to make in which you have the “answers” for. Hence I said just have the argument that you assume will play out.
English

The Savior is omnipresent, thats one of the basic characteristics of God. I can bow to the air in front of me and I would be actively bowing towards Jesus Christ.
An artistic depiction of Jesus is just as valid as a focus of prayer as would be the flame of a candle, a dark room, a grain of sand on the beach, or internal reflections. The difference between those alternatives and an artistic depiction of Christ is that with the art, we have a very obvious image of Jesus to focus our mind upon.
No Catholic is saying you cant pray to Jesus without the art, we do it all the time. The art is just a nice benefit to our prayer focus.
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad Then why are we bowing down to an "inanimate depiction" when the spirit of that saviour of all mankind dwells within us??
English

@Ai_kay2248 @sola_chad Youre right, its an inanimate depiction of the Savior of all mankind as a child with His mother.
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad That statue is NOT my personal lord and Savior!!
English

@packingtape07 @sola_chad I dont see idolatry in the picture. But maybe I just lack the proper Biblical definition of it that you have. Why are you so unwilling to provide that definition you clearly have in mind?
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad The picture is idolatry. Is that good enough? How about you just go ahead and start having the argument you already have in your head with yourself and I can watch.
English

@ZoethHowland @sola_chad Could've been more clear when we're discussing about two separate skeletons, I figured you meant the one most recently being discussed.
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad Nope, don't try to put words in my mouth. I'm referring the bones in the photo above.
English

@packingtape07 @sola_chad So you cant define idolatry, let alone in the Biblical context?
English

@NewBlockCath @sola_chad What does historical meaning have to do? I can read Gods word. Kissing a dead skeleton with a crown in their head, venerating and honoring them in this fashion is idolatry lol.
