“The Ozzie Drill.” Back in 1998, I watched an ESPN interview with Ozzie Smith where he talked about one of his favorite drills — one he used to “improve, polish, and trust his glove instincts.” In the drill, Ozzie got on his knees while a coach peppered him from short distance. The goal was to let the hands work freely to pick or press short hops and in-between hops. No thinking. Just react and trust. Because thinking is slow. I stayed up at night trying to figure out how to adapt this drill for a full group of infielders. One night, I woke up out of a dead sleep with the answer — a way to make the drill simple, repeatable, and predictable for teaching purposes. Once players mastered the foundation, we could expand the drill, make it unpredictable, and challenge instincts at a much higher level. -@CoachMongero

The trunk is the main link between the pelvis and the arm. Rotation is generated and transmitted through the trunk, then carried out into the throw. If that system can’t move and then stiffen when it needs to, you lose both timing and force transfer.⁠ ⁠ @ben_baggett

It’s not a coincidence the @CoastalBaseball is a national powerhouse of a program. At BetterLeadership 2026 @KSchnall9 shared a bit of insight on the CCU culture. It starts with leadership, at every level in the program.

Cody Hollis played a strong game at shortstop, Moore had a strong game blocking behind the plate and Price made a great sliding catch in foul territory after sprinting to the fence line along the right-field line (MORE). @BoydLNHBB
