Attention New Mexicans — if you or a loved one were exposed to radiation from uranium mining, nuclear testing, or other sources, you may be eligible for federal compensation through the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. The good news? You don't have to navigate the application alone — and you don't need a lawyer to apply. New Mexico state agencies are available to help, including: - Department of Health - Veterans Services - Indian Affairs Department - Aging & Long-Term Services These agencies can provide technical assistance to individuals, local governments, and tribal communities throughout the application process. The deadline to file is December 31, 2027 — and there is no fee to apply. For help getting started, call the NM Department of Health helpline: 1-833-796-8773 Spread the word — someone you know may qualify.

Today, I signed SB 163, enshrining in law our commitment to honoring and respecting the rich cultural heritage of New Mexico’s Native communities. Every student deserves the opportunity to celebrate their academic achievements in a way that honors their identity and traditions.
