Good article. “The Catholic Church cannot recognise Anglican ordinations, as decided by Pope Leo XIII.  This applies regardless of whether the person ordained is a man or a woman. The question becomes more difficult with the ordination of women, but fundamentally [that] is an internal Anglican matter.”
Brendan Walsh@brendanwalsh53

As he prepares for the historic meeting of the first woman Archbishop of Canterbury with Pope Leo XIV, Kurt Koch, the phlegmatic Swiss cardinal who leads the Church’s unity office, explains to Daniel Beurthe, “The Catholic Church cannot recognise Anglican ordinations, as decided by Pope Leo XIII. This applies regardless of whether the person ordained is a man or a woman.” thetablet.co.uk/features/chris…

…is for this account to gradually transform into the official account of the AHS - DOS. Reducing the scope to one diocese will make it easier and more sustainable to manage. It will also raise the profile of the AHS - DOS, which could do with some visibility on social media…

Announcement: I’d like to keep posting interesting historical anniversaries and photos etc., but trying to cover the whole ACA is a bit too much to manage. So, I have been in discussions with the Anglican Historical Society - Diocese of Sydney, and the plan in coming months…

@Craig_Foster @TheMatildas Thank you! This is so true and so important. Wednesday night there were 17000 people watching a great battle between South Korea and Japan - all ages, all genders. Fantastic elite sport.

This is very, very well said by Sarah. No one holds the Socceroos to the standard of sold out stadia. It’s an aspiration, not an expectation. @TheMatildas rise has been extraordinary, record breaking. Not measured only in crowds, nor by different standards.
ABC SPORT@abcsport

“If the Matildas are constantly measured by their success of only having full stadiums, it's really dangerous because that's not a blight on men's sport … it never is, and it never has been.” 🇦🇺🏟️⚽ 📱 Hear the AFC Women's Asian Cup on ABC listen: ab.co/4bSbSza

Shout out to @expedia_au while we had you “you are 0 minutes from talking to an agent” 4 times before one came on line - when the agent did he was really patient and helpful.

@monkofjustice @cath_cov I understood the proposition but don’t think it is sustained by the weight of scripture. Obedience to the law and the bearing of lawful civic burden is the responsibility of citizens.

@NewPlusPeter @cath_cov Perhaps, but the Bishop may not have understood the case being made. T or F? "Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens."

"It is time for the Church to speak up as much about the duties that strangers and newcomers owe to our society, as the duties that our society owes to the stranger." This should be straightforward and uncontroversial for a national Church.
BijanOmrani@BijanOmrani

New article: The Duty of a Stranger Churches have spoken much recently of the duties of hospitality. Yet, they speak little on the biblical duties guests and strangers owe to hosts. [Link to article in thread]...

A former president of CICCU has not been made a diocesan bishop in the Church of England since JRS Taylor became +Sodor and Man in 1942 (not to be confused with his son JV Taylor, who became +Winchester).

When it comes to making change happen, peer-to-peer (informal) influence is generally more powerful than the influence that comes from position (formal authority). Informal networks hold the sense-making power throughout an organisation, not senior leader-centric change. This graphic from @InnovisorInc, based on algorithmic applications with multiple organisations across many sectors, demonstrates this: Formal leaders – typically make up around 12% of a given organisational population - impact 45-50% of the people The most influential informal leaders – make up around 3% of the population - impact 85-90% of the people This “3%” group of informal influencers will make or break change & improvement initiatives. Most senior leaders do not know who these influencers are. As leaders of change, we need to: -Build approaches to change that embrace both formal & informal sources of influence -Identify informal networks & informal influencers (your 3%) -Engage them authentically in change & make sure the change makes sense to them -Build a relationship with them for the long haul (the most powerful influence is through relationships) -Influence others by being perceived as sympathetic, trustworthy & competent Whitepaper from Innovisor on “The 3% That Make Your Change Viral” (costs 2.49 euros): jeppehansgaard.gumroad.com/l/Innovisor-Wh… An earlier (free) explanation: innovisor.com/2017/05/30/how… Recording of a recent Innovisor seminar on the 3%: youtu.be/maE3il2j2C0 Via @JeppeHansgaard.

Congratulations to @ric_thorpe on his election as Archbishop of Melbourne. For decades, Ric has been a driving force behind church growth in London. Since his time leading the transformation of St Paul’s Shadwell, parishes across @dioceseoflondon have benefited from his strategic drive and energy - as has the wider Church of England in his national role as Bishop of Islington in recent years. We have so much to thank Ric for. He will be missed here, and he and Louie will leave for Melbourne with our prayers and deepest gratitude.
