Oh I understand, I just don’t happen to agree. These “laws” you speak of are subject to flexibility by supervisors. Again, it’s called leadership. When I taught at the vet school at UCDavis, all the dogs the students learned to do spay/neuters on had to be legally euthanized afterwards. The administrators looked at that and easily got it changed that students could adopt them. It’s not rocket science. This LA Rescue system sucks. Despite the best efforts of you Rescuers, this system is killing tens of thousands of dogs every year (they won’t even publish the exact number). We just asked to adopt a mom and 7 puppies who were past their kill deadline. We don’t want any money, happy to pay fees. Again, not rocket science. Funny, we’d think you’d try and help us not stand and block us to support a flawed status quo.

Thanks again for the incorrect information. If rescues were willing to help why did Macy and her pups reach their endpoint and await death? One single rescue offered pull the dogs after solicited only if we would foster them and we wanted instead wanted to adopt them. We came in to help after no rescue saved them and @SabaMekaZeus asked if we might help. You didn’t rescue them. You did not offer your expertise, time or money to help them. Stand by your “rules” and don’t help us, but don’t defame us for trying to help.

Hello. I’ve answered this several times and several ways. We don’t ever want to work for a rescue as a foster. We provide everything and all we are asking the Rescue to do is get the animals released. We legally adopt, accept full responsibility and rehabilitate many animals and place them in homes vetted we know and trust going on 39+ years. Macy & her pups are one case that fell in our lap because someone asked us to help. Just placing endless X posts on dogs about to be euthanized is pretty lame. We tried to help. Why haven’t one of you proud rescuers found another foster? By all means, this means a lot of expense/work for us. This is what we do. You don’t want our help, we get it. What do you have to say to Macy & her pups, answer us that.

If you want to help them so bad why can't you foster them? I'm not sure why you're so strong on adopting them instead of fostering.. it doesn't make sense to me. You had a perfect set up with a really reputable rescue!!

I do understand that there is a system and rules and more importantly state laws but when the option is do nothing and just euthanize healthy pets because there’s no flexibility, someone needs to take a look and consider better alternatives. This is what leadership is. We’re a veterinary hospital, after all, and we just want to adopt one young Mom and pups, not start a revolution. I agree some of the language towards us (especially from anyone unaware what we’ve been through to save Macy and her pups was uncalled for.) Appreciate you standing up for us. Happy Memorial Day.

Hello and Thank you. It’s a tad confusing. Some of the postings are mixing folks up. We have been supporting @joey_tuccio and his group with donations of food/supplies through his Amazon Wish List. He’s helping street dogs on #SkidRow in LA and seeing his ongoing postings of dogs free on the streets with medical issues, we thought to extend help if possible. Simultaneously, we have tried to save a young Malinois mom and 7 pups already locked up in the Carson Shelter in LA who will be killed anytime. Unfortunately, the Rescue system in place insists we cannot take and care for them (unless we work for a Rescue) despite that no Rescue had come forward on their own to save them yet. Just because you are a vet office. A rescue should jump at your command. How many vets and vet techs have been in trouble for animal neglect. Just because your clients brought or bring a dog to you. That makes them a good pet parent. I don't think so. I agree with @FoxtrotSh1tUp . Get your 501c3 and partner with these shelters. You could do so much good with your resources and contacts.
