@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson If you genuinely think that simply because someone works in retail means you should not be allowed to afford food, shelter, and basic human needs, you're fundamentally broken.
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson Nope. You're saying all labor is equal. That's patently untrue and I've demonstrated why it isn't true.
English

$18/hr is a conservative demand
💫𝓓𝓮𝓶𝓸💫🪐@Demo4fhs
Don't forget, this is the same generation that wants $18 an hour minimum wage...
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson And you're wrong lol
Unskilled labour is simply bullshit.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson You're saying that I'm saying all labour should be paid the same amount which I never once said.
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson I literally am.
"lAbOr iS LaBoR"
If this is what you think, then you don't value your own labor.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson You are not reading anything I'm posting
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson That has a different value.
But hey, if you're willing to pay the same amount to dig a hole as wiring an outlet, fine by me. It's not my money.
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson Govt doesn't pay people to work fast food jobs. Business owners do that.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson Dude, the electrician can maintain the wages he is on while the fast food workers can get a livable wage.
Nothing for the builder, electrician, pest control guy, etc. needs to fundamentally change here.
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson You'll need to steel the electricians labor, for one thing, in order to provide electricity. You'll need to steel the builders labor in order to provide the house.
That's just two. Unless you're planning to do all of that yourself. But you'll still need to steel the supplies.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson It's still all labour lol
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson No it isn't.
Asking someone to dig a hole is not the same as asking them to wire an outlet.
Digging a hole is easy and many kids will do it.
Wiring an outlet requires a lot more knowledge and is more dangerous to do.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson Who's labour needs to be taken? It's so weird how the government has infinite money to spend on war, bail outs, and private jets but that money never seems to be around when it comes to livable wages.
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson Who's labor are you willing to steel for those "fundamental human rights"?
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson No where here does it say they should be paid the same amount. Labour is labour regardless if you view it as skilled or not.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson No one is saying a fast food workers should make as much as licensed technicians. We're saying that if you work, you should be able to afford what equates to fundamental human rights.
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson I'm in IT and I wouldn't go back to retail. Not because it's hard, but because people are a**holes.
That still doesn't mean a retail worker should be paid as much as someone that runs network cable.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson Right, and they are paid well to take on that responsibility.
To say that retail or service workers don't deserve a living wage is laughable.
English

@NewUnknown44 @PaulLRobeson I've worked retail. I'm telling you factually that being an electrician is at least 10x harder. The liability alone is insane.
The moment you're paying someone to install electrical, that person is taking on liability if a fire starts due to shoddy electrical.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson Especially during peak hours where your inevitably down 3 guys and dealing with idiots who, again, view you as dirt.
I kill bugs for a living. I roll around in bed bug infested apartments all day and I'd rather be doing this than EVER work behind the grill again.
English

@lordjedi @PaulLRobeson As a guy who has worked both a typical "real" job and a "low skill" job, I can assure you that it isn't just flipping on a timer.
The average chud that talks about "real" jobs and how fast food workers don't deserve living wages have never worked in the industry...
English

@NewProgressUSA Love the spirit, I ask you demand more
English

@NewUnknown44 Still not enough.
We need universal basic income.
English

@PaulLRobeson Not only that, but flipping burgers is just as valid labour as an electrician or any other "real" work.
There is no such thing as unskilled labour
English

@NewUnknown44 That's the big lie they tell people!
I saw the statistic a few years ago that over half of workers make less than $30,000/yr.
That proves their "real jobs" are not even a majority of jobs.
English

@PaulLRobeson They'll say that you just need to go get a "real" job... Whatever that means.
English

@NewUnknown44 In my state, it takes $28/hr to afford a 1bdr apartment.
English

@Mericamemed "They took away our right to take 6-8 hours to make 6 cookies! Fucking feminists!"
