@tnorthernway There was probably a grammar school associated with the Minster School in nearby Southwell from the 13th century, but nothing named of that date in Newark.

@NewarkCT Thank you so much. That’s why we thought it might be the Magdalene school but haven’t yet traced it back as far as our records. A ‘song school’ assoc. with the church would make sense in early 14th century.

@advertisergroup @NSDCouncil Bit pedantic, but the Fernwood tower was never a water tower. It was the central tower of a power house, a small localised power station, built to generate power for the old hospital.
