When the history of this period is written up, people will forever ask how a Manchester Mayor in a matter of weeks became PM of the UK with no leadership contest and no clear policy platform. Ejecting in the process a sitting PM with a massive majority! A spectacular coup.

@SubversiveForce The government announced the plan to move to the use of large asylum sites in November last year. It’s not a new policy announcement.

Nick Robinson asks Nigel Farage if he will give back the £5m bunged to him by Christopher Harborne.
Farage responds by asking Robinson if he will donate his salary to charity.
So Farage clearly sees the £5m as reward for services rendered.
Which of course it was.

At least the British people now know where they stand. Even if they vote in a PM with a massive majority he or she will be forced from office if the UK media decide they don't like them.
They will push and undermine until Farage is in Number 10. It's what their owners want.

If Burnham becomes PM it will make a refreshing change having a PM with Northern roots who understands and loves the North of England and wants to see Northern cities thrive.

UK doesn’t need a new Prime Minister every year. It needs a political system that elects good people, pays them well, allows them to make decisions on things that matter most and be held to account for the outcomes of those. We’ll be back here again in 18 months.

@NewheathBooks @Kyle_Robinson22 @dicofran Because the media is highly influential. Without the support of the media political parties can’t get their message out. Increasingly opinions coalesce around repeated media messages. Propaganda is incredibly effective.

I backed Keir from the very start of his leadership campaign in Manchester, and I back him today. As the saying goes, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. For the sake of both our country and our party, I hope my Labour colleagues & friends know what they are doing.
