@timchap I think we’re all in a state of shock, particularly at the apparent speed. Not only did SKS have a massive majority, he has been an incredibly effective PM. We now know the plotting began in 2022 and I am convinced outside agencies have also been involved.

When the history of this period is written up, people will forever ask how a Manchester Mayor in a matter of weeks became PM of the UK with no leadership contest and no clear policy platform. Ejecting in the process a sitting PM with a massive majority! A spectacular coup.

@TonyBurke2010 “Not a penny off the pay and not an hour on the day” - the aftermath was brutal- miners stuck it out till November and then crushed. The press and Leiths BBC stacked up against you and Churchill churning out a 4 page newspaper like a man possessed

@SubversiveForce The government announced the plan to move to the use of large asylum sites in November last year. It’s not a new policy announcement.

“The Home Office is due to announce 12 new asylum seeker centres across the country tonight—without making a statement to the House." Katie Lam MP has just raised this as a point of order, as no one knows which constituencies will be affected. Invasion everywhere. The Speaker is not happy: “Totally unacceptable!”

Nick Robinson asks Nigel Farage if he will give back the £5m bunged to him by Christopher Harborne. Farage responds by asking Robinson if he will donate his salary to charity. So Farage clearly sees the £5m as reward for services rendered. Which of course it was. #r4today

Now remind me what was all that bonus ban nonsense all about?
Novara Media@novaramedia

A former water company boss has been handed a £270k bonus despite a parasite outbreak that sickened more than 140 people and caused a public health scandal. Susan Davy stepped down as chief executive of Pennon, the group that owns South West Water, last year. She received the six-figure sum despite the board initially deciding to withhold the bonus following a public outcry. South West Water pumped drinking water to thousands of homes in Devon containing cryptosporidium, a microscopic parasite that causes a highly infectious gastrointestinal illness. The outbreak in May 2024 impacted approximately 17,000 homes and lasted more than 50 days. The parasite left four people requiring hospital treatment and caused more than 140 confirmed cases of sickness and diarrhoea. South West Water was fined a record £1.8m after pleading guilty to supplying water unfit for human consumption, following a prosecution brought by the Drinking Water Inspectorate. The company offered a “full and unreserved apology”. Former environment secretary Steve Reed introduced legislation in February 2025 to prevent water companies paying out bonuses to executives if they fail to meet strict environmental and consumer standards. However, Davy’s payouts were reinstated after guidance from regulator Ofwat over how the new rules would be applied. Davy, who claimed the parasite outbreak caused her “sleepless nights”, received a £270,000 bonus for 2024-25 and an £87,000 bonus for 2025-26, The Telegraph reported. That was in addition to a base salary and benefits of £561,000 for 2024-25, and £473,000 for the nine months of 2025-26 before she left the company. With pensions and share allocations, Davy earned more than £1m in 2024-25. Allies of Andy Burnham, who is widely believed to be the next prime minister-in-waiting, have said the new MP for Makerfield wants to bring ‘the essentials of life’ – including water – back into public control. More than four in five Brits support nationalising the country’s water companies, YouGov polling from earlier this month revealed.

@archer_rs Then it's time to take down the media. Ban all foreign ownership of UK media would be a start followed by enacting all elements of Leveson 2.

At least the British people now know where they stand. Even if they vote in a PM with a massive majority he or she will be forced from office if the UK media decide they don't like them. They will push and undermine until Farage is in Number 10. It's what their owners want.

If Burnham becomes PM it will make a refreshing change having a PM with Northern roots who understands and loves the North of England and wants to see Northern cities thrive.

There is a fundamental reason why the UK is about to have its 7th Prime Minister in 10 years. Socialists and those Socialists masquerading as Conservatives. The majority, vocal and silent, in the UK know Socialism is a curse and doesn't work. 💀

UK doesn’t need a new Prime Minister every year. It needs a political system that elects good people, pays them well, allows them to make decisions on things that matter most and be held to account for the outcomes of those. We’ll be back here again in 18 months.

Andy Burnham hasn’t been in parliament for years. No involvement in international politics, failed twice to lead the Party. He is extremely out of his depth and under qualified to just walk into number 10. What he and his associates are doing is reckless.

@NewheathBooks @Kyle_Robinson22 @dicofran Because the media is highly influential. Without the support of the media political parties can’t get their message out. Increasingly opinions coalesce around repeated media messages. Propaganda is incredibly effective.

I backed Keir from the very start of his leadership campaign in Manchester, and I back him today. As the saying goes, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. For the sake of both our country and our party, I hope my Labour colleagues & friends know what they are doing.
