@mattjacksonn__ @danwootton Why did @TheRealKirstyG leave the channel completely? She was great. I get they wanted to be a “start up” but the sudden frequent changes in the first 18 months might be great when developing an app but not when looking for viewer loyalty on linear TV.

That’s the irony. They have all made themselves vulnerable now.
Management are desperate to hire Richard Madeley to replace either Patrick or Martin Daubney.
Anyway, I’ve moved on. The only way to be free in the British media is via independence.

@danwootton They (gbnews) will replace him just as quickly as they put him in your slot once someone better comes along....sounds like he's on a knife edge with his drink problem, silly young man
English

@JoelDiamond18 And they are actually right up there with her best work. There’s a greatest hits CD from late 90s with property sourced tracks from Play Me Out. So what’s the deal?
English

@JoelDiamond18 Really enjoy this album (an optimistic listen) though she’s not my norm genre. Wondering - do you know why the only digital versions of this and the other MCA album (I know not yours but also underrated) are bad vinyl rips? Everything is remastered these days except for those.

This recording that I produced for the iconic artist HELEN REDDY, which also happens to be her last charted record, still gives me goose-bumps to this day. Beautiful song written by Becky Hobbs and magnificently arranged by Artie Butler.

Venezuela dictator Maduro gearing up to invade neighbouring Guyana. He wants its oil. US military has been working with Guyana’s tiny military but done nothing like enough to deter Maduro. Nor has Britain. Guyana is former colony, friend/ally and fellow Commonwealth country. Only English speaking nation in Latin America. Shades of the Falklands.

@BenFordhamLive …. perhaps some advice from a relationship counselor might also help. First thing they say is don’t get defensive or justify your actions, instead acknowledge the way the other person feels. All we get today is this is not unusual, we did everything we could etc
English

@BenFordhamLive While they probably need to replace management consultant types and get people who know how to communicate with real people (simply outsourcing that and reading from a script won’t be enough)….

Optus has snubbed its customers again.
They WILL NOT compensate people impacted by the outage.
They’ll instead “reward” customers for their patience.
Minister Bill Shorten has responded to the Telco…

@DigitalMediaBoy And I’m told customers continued to get bills and overdue reminders today. Yes bills still need to be paid, but it’s a terrible look when every single service is down. Do insurers call customers about renewals in the middle of a bushfire?
English

@gav_mck @DigitalMediaBoy @aussiegoldy No tech expert here, but would they ever schedule an outage of all services nationwide?
English

@DigitalMediaBoy @aussiegoldy Sounds like a scheduled outage, gone wrong
English

The Optus "core" fault outage occurred at approx 4am. My digital devices stopped receiving notifications and emails at that time.
It took Optus another 6-7 hours to communicate with customers that their whole network was down and impacted. Why are brands not learning from prior communication challenges?
#optus #auspol
English

@DigitalMediaBoy Isn’t a better question why aren’t brands led by people who understand communication and reputation? Yes they can get advice from McKinsey, BCG etc and comms agencies but that doesn’t help when a quick decision has to be made in the moment.
English

@RossCameron4 Also an issue with big business where management are typically (but not always) “experts” in management not the actual business they are “leading”. So they rely on advice both internal and from expensive consultants. And often they only hear positives from managers below.
English

The #Optusdown shows how weak and vulnerable is the national communications network. But the same is true for the electricity grid, fuel and food security. Australia has no back up plan. Meanwhile, our leaders obsess about carbon dioxide, racism and gender - we plan to fail.
English

@DiFi_Lobster @OwenJones84 Israel has nuclear weapons among other things. If they *really* wanted to massacre people or flatten Gaza they could do it in minutes. Thankfully they don’t.
English

Supporters of Israel's massacre have tried to shut down our right to protest.
They've lied, smeared, and stamped their feet.
And for now they've been completely humiliated 👇

@FendiT76 @chrisrauchle @MarkDiStef Except her role there is nothing to do with that. She would actually be good at it, whatever you think of her political party.
English

@chrisrauchle @MarkDiStef We got the best crisis manager in Australia! They thought as Gladys signed up…
English

@chrisrauchle @MarkDiStef Or they actually have lots of corporate staff but either they have to wait for Singapore HQ’s ok, or they hire the wrong skill set. Speaking generally (not Optus specific) biz need people who understand normal people not lobbyists, ex pol staffers and management consultants.
English

@MarkDiStef It’s not like they have corporate affairs and GR teams or anything….. Still sending out bills today, and advising people who can’t call 000 to borrow a friend or neighbor’s phone. Why not just say “if your Optus phone won’t work to call 000, shout help! instead”
English

@afneil On a purely political level (not great but that’s how they think these days) why doesn’t the gov just ban it and direct police or security to enforce? Would anyone genuinely unhappy with a 11/11 protest ban ever consider voting @Conservatives ?
English

I doubt the Metropolitan Police has ever looked weaker. But where is the Prime Minister in all this? The country needs and is crying out for clear and strong leadership from the top. But silence or, at best, bromides are not leadership. Many fear the PM just doesn’t have it in him.

@AntonyGreenElec @Paul_Karp And cigarette excise etc. given this was supposed to be substitute to a petrol tax, I wonder what Vic gov’s legal advice was before jmpementing? I recall with the tobacco one they “refunded” excise paid to a charity? What does the Vic government plan to do with refunds for this?
English

@Paul_Karp Remember, it was a challenge to an ACT tax on the commercial copying of porn videos that led to state governments losing their petrol levies.
English

FULL STORY: High Court strikes down Victoria's EV tax in a 4-3 decision. WA and NSW road-user charging due by 2027 likely also gone.
This exposes other levies to challenge, from gaming taxes, to car rego, & waste levies. BIG DEAL. #auspol #auslaw

English

@benraue I’m surprised that they thought this policy would stand up. It was settled about 20+ years ago that states can’t collect excise on cigarettes, petrol etc. presumably the purpose of this was to apply equivalent to (federal) petrol tax on EVs. a lawyers view @DominicVillaSC ?
