From the silver screen to the concert hall, this programme reveals the powerful storytelling capacities of a string quartet. Philip Glass’s haunting and hypnotic Mishima and Greenwood’s terrifying There Will Be Blood make way for the shimmering impressionism of Ravel’s quartet and the iconic and thought provoking Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber. The fantastic players of the @PiattiQuartet will take us on a fascinating journey culminating with Shostakovich’s searing and rhythmically driven Quartet No. 8. In partnership with @MusNetIrl, we’re delighted to present a brand new collaboration featuring two of the most exciting rising stars of the classical music world: accordionist extraordinaire Théo Ould and stellar soprano @AliLanger, coming to Warrenpoint Town Hall on 1st April. This duo will present a fascinating programme entitled Confessions from Dusk till Dawn, exploring the night as a space of poetry, intimacy and mystery. From Schubert’s romanticism to Poulenc’s whimsical miniatures, their musical programme will also pay homage to the genius of Dvořák and Kurt Weill. For the second evening of our Piano Fest we celebrate one of the titans of music making in the 20th century, Leonard Bernstein, and his timeless compositions for choirs, soloists and orchestras. Giving voice to this wide collection, in his original and most creative manner comes @robbarronpiano with his trio, a creative jazz pianist, who recognises that Bernstein’s imaginative creations give themselves generously to an updated and improvised interpretation.
