It’s official: no wins by a 13–16 seed for the second straight year. The last time that happened before 2025 was in 2017. The only "upsets" today were two 9 seeds over 8 seeds, both of which were favored by Vegas. I fear it is a second straight year of Chalk Madness.

Duke trailed Siena for 35 minutes. Wisconsin lost to High Point. UNC blew a 19-pt lead against VCU. UK (+ refs) barely escaped Santa Clara. Saint Louis beat UGA by 25. But people really think a 31-1 team didn’t deserve an at-large bid.

The reportedly dying mid-majors have been pretty darn competitive so far w/ Miami of Ohio, High Point & VCU wins and Siena/Santa Clara/Wright St. close calls. Santa Clara was a miracle 3 from beating Kentucky's $22M roster. Anything can still happen in March.

I’m choosing to remember Miami Ohio as that 31-0 team that won a tournament game over the ACC

The pessimist will focus solely on the results of Santa Clara, Akron, Wright St & Hofstra losing. All 4, especially SCU & WSU, showed why so many enjoyed watching them this season. Call me a mid major “homer”, the reality is if you truly cover all 365, 80+% of teams are mid majors🤷‍♂️
