Exoplanner and ExoFuture tools inside NextAstro youtu.be/Z6tCk-VuQn0?si… via @YouTube Exoplanner is designed to help you find and schedule the best observable exoplanet transits for a given site, with visibility checks, moon-distance awareness, exposure-time guidance, and calendar conflict handling built in. ExoFuture looks further ahead, letting you search future transit opportunities across date ranges and observatories using filters like magnitude, transit depth, orbital period, and site selection.
youtube.com/watch?v=pKl_34… Discover how the NextAstronomy (nextastro.org) Weather and Enclosure System (WEMA) keeps robotic observatories safe and fully automated — even in unpredictable real-world conditions. Unlike traditional astronomy weather systems that rely on limited local sensors, WEMA combines: Satellite & radar data Professional weather forecasts Local observatory sensors Lightning and storm tracking This intelligent system continuously evaluates conditions like cloud cover, rain, wind, humidity, and lightning risk to automatically open, close, and protect your telescope.

Students from Luther College in Croydon, Melbourne, imaged a supernova, AT2026fyc within a day or so of detection. Likely the first human requested observation of the supernova after it burst! #astronomy#nextastro#supernova#robotictelescopes
Some nice commissioning shots from our Planewave CDK20 in Victoria, Australia. Not too long an exposure, just roadtesting the full setup. Messier 20. For those interested the camera is an FLI Kepler 4040 CMOS camera. #nextastro#astronomy#robotictelescopes#astrophotography
The NextAstro Control Suite can schedule (automatically or manually) exoplanet transit observations, reduce them, analyse them, fit exoplanet transits (with the help of #EXOTIC !) and deliver them to be mused over with your morning coffee. This one here? TOI-1259Ab! What is it? I dunno! I just clicked a button when I saw it happened to be transiting this week :) arxiv.org/abs/2101.02707#NACS#exoplanets#astronomy#robotictelescopes#nextastro
The NextAstro Control Suite (NACS) software (nextastro.org/observatory-co…) prides itself on collecting, processing and applying calibrations perfectly for any camera on any telescope. Much of the time it is straightforward. Sometimes… not so much!. Here are some flat images from an FLI ML50100 CCD Camera, it has two readout areas that have slightly different gains and potentially shifting bias levels between the two sides of the chip. Calibrating this isn’t for the faint of heart! But an elegant dance of calculating and applying gains, biasdarks and shifting offsets does get there in the end! #nextastro#astronomy#space#camera#observatorycontrol
youtu.be/Pv4tIU5Uq7o While we understood the theory of liquid cooling, in practice is was quite a lot of work to select tube sizes, route them so that they could not get tangled on the Paramount ME2 mount and bleed the cooling fluid.
