@LibertyToad @FavoriteTeach11 Public school is also geared to and paced at the performance of the lowest common denominator. It has been proven that gifted kids can usually do the entire year’s curriculum by November. Innovation has been needed for the last 100 years.

@FavoriteTeach11 Most of the homeschool families I have known do 2-3 hours of schoolwork per day and vastly outperform government school kids. I think there's massive innovation required in our education systems. They're an outdated Industrial Age model.

Five years ago, one of our dogs got hit by a car in front of our house because we had left the gate open and she'd run after another passing dog. She stayed in the hospital for two nights but recovered, thank God. When she got home, I overheard my husband in the next room apologizing to her, saying something like "Sorry, girl. It's our fault, not yours. It's our job to keep you from hurting yourself." I found it very sweet even though it also made me feel a little guilty. Anyway, it's five years later, and I sometimes think about that accident and my husband's private "conversation" with the dog, and I can't help but think about what we're letting happen to "trans kids." If I still feel guilty just from having not protected my DOG from hurting itself, how are we going to live with having let an entire generation of CHLIDREN run into oncoming traffic?
