@MyDiabetesMyWay Any reason why my Labs are showing "No Result" in the Android mobile app? I can see them when I login on the website.

As I mentioned previously, the pixel density of the @Pebble Time 2 really helps dithering images to convey more than the default 64 colors. I’ve got img999 “mostly” working now and I’m really happy with the image quality. It’s not easy to show in pictures tho 🫠

@sotonDSN @T1_Lesley @VickiaDSN @GurpsKaurH Tonight shouldnt have been about HCL or ELSA studies. It should have been focused on when a patient is in front of a HCP telling you something is wrong, mentioning one of the 4T symptoms (Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, Thinner) & how that should immediately trigger a finger prick test

@T1_Lesley @VickiaDSN @GurpsKaurH agree.. the HCL stuff & the ELSA stuff all off topic. Still they knew more than some HCPs I speak to! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Interestingly my daughter had her GCSE bio mock today. it was all about T1 , c peptide & insulin. She came home & told me her answers- was able to tell more than most HCPs

Honestly, I’m in tears watching this! Anyone working as a first contact HCP needs to watch it! 100’s of stories… ▶️not being listened to ▶️having to advocate & beg for a fingerpick that costs pennies ▶️lost lives all because they trusted a HCP ▶️so many ignoring classic dx

This is such an important debate at 6pm tonight. I always wonder if my own Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis would have been picked up correctly if I wasn't already aware of the 4T symptoms: Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, Thinner. Please share for awareness. #LylasLaw #TestDontGuess #GBDoc

Ages ago I had a concept for a @nothing watch, less smart, more classic design likena a braun. I am not a designer but the 1st image is what I came up with. The hour segments are glyphs for subtle notifications or night light. Classic braun styling with simple smarts. The right image is the same design rendered via AI of what that design might actually look like. Thoughts?

I watched Shogun twice. Would watch it again. Cannot wait for S2 but will miss the characters that didn’t make it through. Andor, I cannot add anything other than it was perfect TV. What else do I need to see? I want to watch an episode and be in anticipation for the next.

I need some more TV recs. Feeling bereft after S4 Bridgerton. Been my favourite season, want to rewatch. Not sure why this season captured my affection. Maybe because of Violet. Do we all just needed some love & joy? Shogun & Andor are only shows I’ve wanted to rewatch recently.

@T1_Lesley @jamgail72 Would be good if this could be fed back to MyDiabetesMyWay. A red up arrow for a 1-5 increase when you are still below 58mmol/mol feels very harsh. "Your HbA1c has increased slightly but you are still doing really well & within the target range" would be better.

As promised. Bit of a long one, but here is my letter to NHS England regarding the heartless cut and paste efforts of MP's on mass. Thanks to those that sent their MP replies in. @parthaskar has also taken the time out of his schedule to reply too. Strap yourselves in folks! "Dear NHS Diabetes Treatment Team, I am writing to raise a serious concern that has emerged across the Type 1 Diabetes community over the past week. Thousands of parents, carers, and advocates have contacted their MPs regarding the ongoing failures in early recognition and diagnosis of paediatric Type 1 Diabetes. In return, they have received what appears to be an identical, cut and paste response, in many cases word for word. This pattern is now widespread enough that it cannot be dismissed as coincidence. The community is asking the same question, and I must now ask it directly to NHS England: Are MPs being provided with a centrally produced response, and if so, is this coming from NHS England or its communications teams? The replies being issued contain the same paragraphs, the same structure, and the same dismissive reassurance that there is “insufficient evidence” to support routine mandatory testing, despite the lived experiences of families, the ongoing harm caused by missed diagnoses, and the preventable tragedies that continue to occur. To explain the issue, here is one example of the repeated response being sent to families from an MP: “Thank you for taking the time to write to me and for detailing your own experiences with Type 1 Diabetes and your son. I wish you the very best with your London Marathon training and with fund raising for such a worthy cause. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent body responsible for providing guidance on the treatment and care of diabetes in England. Specifically, guideline NG18 covers Type 1 and 2 Diabetes, providing clinical guidelines for the diagnosis, treatment, and care of children and young people. It says that children with suspected Type 1 Diabetes should receive a blood test that checks blood glucose, or sugar, levels. NG18 recommends that children and young people with suspected Type 1 Diabetes are referred immediately, on the same day, to a multidisciplinary paediatric diabetes team so they can confirm the diagnosis and provide immediate care. You may be aware that NHS England is responsible for caring for children with diabetes. At present, due to insufficient evidence supporting routine mandatory testing for paediatric type 1 diabetes, it has no plans to introduce this at the current time. A National Institute for Healthcare Research-funded study called ELSA (Early Surveillance for Autoimmune Diabetes) is currently underway in England exploring the feasibility and benefits of screening in children aged 3 to 13. NHS England is working closely with these researchers to ensure that all the emerging evidence is considered when NICE develops future national guidance, including any further decisions on the availability of screening. More widely on tackling diabetes, the Government has partnered with Virgin Media O2 to provide smartphones for children so they have access to tech to manage diabetes. Thank you once again for contacting me, I will continue to monitor this sensitive issue as it develops. With best wishes.” I will be attaching several more examples, all of which are virtually identical. I will forward another response to a Diabetes Specialist Nurse in a follow up email. Why this matters? Parents are not receiving meaningful engagement with the concerns they raise. Instead, they are being met with a template that: • Repeats information they already know • Avoids addressing the core issue of missed diagnoses • Minimises the urgency of preventable harm • Suggests that routine testing lacks evidence, despite the clear and ongoing failures in early detection • Deflects responsibility by pointing to long term research rather than immediate safeguarding measures It is my belief that this is not just a communications issue, it is a safeguarding issue. When thousands of families receive the same generic response, it raises legitimate questions about where these statements originate and whether NHS England is advising MPs to use them. I am therefore requesting clarity on the following: 1. Has NHS England Comms Team provided MPs or their offices with template wording or briefing lines regarding paediatric Type 1 Diabetes, mandatory testing, or the ELSA study? 2. If so, who authorised this messaging, and what evidence base was used to justify the claim of “insufficient evidence” for routine testing? As everyone should know by now, routine testing applies only when symptoms warrant it, not on mass. 3. Is NHS England aware that these responses are being issued at scale, and does it consider them an appropriate representation of the concerns raised by T1D families? 4. What steps will NHS England take to ensure that future communications reflect the seriousness of delayed/missed diagnoses and the lived experiences of affected families? The Type 1 community deserves transparency. Parents who have lost children, or come close to losing them, deserve more than a recycled paragraph. And children currently at risk deserve a system that responds with urgency, not template reassurance. I look forward to your clarification. With warm regards, Mr. John Paul Story QiC Diabetes – The People’s Award Winner 2025 FdSc Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) From Partha: "Thanks John Team- can we ensure that comms going out from the NHS is accurate- as the comms clearly going out to MPs (which comes from NHSE Comms team) is conflating screening -which isn’t what John is consistently raising and campaigning for. I am also unsure why contract with Virgin Media is in the response- neither mention of the ELSA study. I am happy to help- as the Type 1 Diabetes lead- to help develop the comms as needed -so that MPs are better informed- as well as more empathetic in their response than these are at the moment Thanks for considering – we must strive to do better than this. Regards Dr. Partha Kar Consultant Diabetes & Endocrinology Type 1 Diabetes & Technology Lead, NHS England & GIRFT GMC Advisor, International Medical Graduates" #LylasLaw #TestDontGuess #ProtectOurChildren #T1D #diabetes #fyp
