@NiccyVR The alternative is inflating everything just to match a tiny subset of maps that have been ranked for the past 2 years. The only reason this comes across as "gutting aim" is because these maps have absolutely dominated aim recently, other types of aim are getting massive buffs

Why are we pretending that gutting aim is the only way to balance the pp system? Why is the conversation always about nerfing what’s strong instead of finally bringing up the skillsets that have been underweighted, ignored and neglected for years? Constantly taking away people’s PP milestones in the name of "balancing" is incredibly demotivating. This nerf is harsh and it sends a frustrating message to players. Why push my skill ceiling in the skillsets I enjoy if those scores might just get nerfed a few months later? Why pivot to niche skillsets if they’re still neglected in the system? At some point it starts to feel pointless to play competitively at all. If the default solution to every balance issue is to nerf whatever currently gives the most PP, then achievements stop feeling meaningful because they’re always at risk of being retroactively devalued. When every pp rework ends up feeling like another round of nerfs, it creates the sense that competitive progress is temporary. This rework feels like a joke.

@NiccyVR Obviously the rework still needs some work, I’ve seen a fair number of good complains about it myself but why are we pretending that nerfing the aimslop people have lamented for a year is unwarranted?

@Fireyfoxxo Every several months or so there’s a “pp rework” on osu! Devs make tweaks to the way star rating (difficulty) is calculated — this usually comes with buffs/nerfs for certain skillsets. This rework brutally nerfs a lot of players and it’s a hotspot for debate in the community atm

@_meowaly Nerf is way too harsh. Instead of nerfing skillsets into oblivion they should be buffing underweighted ones. In lieu of “balancing” the game, pp devs are just shooting DT players in the head and calling it a pp rework.

ok so i do agree that dt aim is overweighted, but does it need to be nerfed THAT much? like it’s so insanely demotivating losing all progress i made in like the past half a year or probably more
