Advocating for public spaces got me into DC politics. I will always champion deliberate & *human-centric* design of our parks, streets, neighborhoods. The feds and the District need to work cooperatively & long-term to manage and maintain Malcolm X as a true urban park for DC.

👎🏼 The District's planning agency is only considering this tiny handful of parcels in Ward 1 for increased density in the next Comprehensive Plan. This draft map is, in a word, unambitious. The density of Ward 1 is one of its greatest assets and we deserve more of it.

Turf replacement at Malcolm X Park is WAY overdue. But closing the entire lawn without community engagement has rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way. I'm working closely with local NPS leadership to find an alternative plan that preserves some access to DC's vital town square. wapo.st/4t0b1Cx

At our March meeting, ANC 1B passed a resolution strongly condemning any actions by the Federal Government to remove the 15th Street Bike Lane - a route that safely connects Columbia Heights to Downtown DC, the National Mall, and into Virginia.

@MarkTMcDevitt As a pedestrian in DC, anything that helps control the death race on the District’s streets is welcome. Labeling speed cameras as “predatory” is absurd when tickets are easily avoided by following the speed limit.

Yesterday I stopped by the opening of the new @jubileehousing deeply affordable development on Ontario Road — complete with solar energy and an urban farm to offset the rising cost of groceries for residents. We need to make it easier and cheaper to deliver this type of project.
