The decision to turn him into such a ruthless serial killer is one of the worst decisions ever made in s2. It's a lazy choice, only to heighten the (already existing) parallels with Alastor. It's grotesquely absurd. He should have been a clean-handed manipulator, not a murderer.

The Inventor has multiple ways to rid herself of her device's troublesome cooldowns and still save her skin. Some include a gust of air to push her target away or a blast of molten slag to both burn and slow down her unfortunate target.
