The point of a playoff is finding a champion. A 24 team playoff is a participation tournament. Of course the coaches want it. I do like the idea of turning the conference championship into a playin game.

@geoffschwartz I don’t get what the hate is with expanding. This COULD be the only thing to return CFB to normalcy. Break the conferences up and make scheduling regular season games matter more again. Conf championships don’t mean shit take them out anyways

The most-discussed 24-team CFP model includes an at-large bracket determined by CFP rankings, an automatic berth for the Group of Six leagues and first-round campus games for seeds 9-24.

Maximum Participation??? Nobody wants to see a CFP game where 8-4 Iowa gets blown up for 60 minutes.
These are the only changes that should be made to the CFP:
- Start a week earlier than previous
- 5-8 seeds host in the first round
- 1-4 seeds host in the 2nd round
- Semifinals are rotating NY6 bowls (the others are non-playoff bowl games)
The CFP becomes nothing more than a participation trophy for most if we expand it again.
