I want to start making wildly speculative predictions about the future as influenced by COVID-19 so that when invariably one of them comes true or close to coming true due to the sheer number of predictions, I can quote tweet it in a year and say, "SEE! I KNEW!"

@writingandcats I think it's probably both. The second season is much stronger than the first imo and where I actually started to care for all of the awful characters, but fundamentally it is a show about rich people with daddy issues making bad decisions.

I'm finally trying to watch Succession and I'm four episodes in and IDK. Is this a show where it takes some build up to get invested, or is this just the show and it's just not for me?

@whyangelinawhy I’ve recently caved and started watching as well, and I’ve been giving episode summaries to a friend who has decided she definitely does not want to watch it but wants to know what happens. I think that’s pretty much ideal.

@GreatCheshire Watching his reaction to the Riddler goon who says that he’s vengeance is one of the most powerful moments in any of the Batman films. The final act is what really makes the movie for me.

I know a lot of people dislike the final act of The Batman but I really can’t imagine the movie without it. It’s showing Batman’s evolution from a vigilante who beats up people in an alley to a superhero who stops masked villains and saves people from large disasters. It’s great

My sustainability class just finished a module about disinformation. I had them write me a letter assuming they were flunking and arguing that they deserve an A, using the techniques of disinformation we discussed, like cherry picking, false experts and ad hominem. HOO-boy. 1/n

What are examples in any form of media where a "brilliant song/painting/play/etc" within the story is actually as good as the characters act like it is? Note: NOT the same as just "I liked it". It needs to actually fully match its fictional reputation
