In Dubai, airplanes have to swim: runways flooded due to heavy rains #Dubai authorities had to close some highways and urge residents and visitors to stay indoors. The country's main airport was also on alert - 17 flights were postponed or diverted there. According to Khaleej Times, the disaster also flooded one of the metro stations, and the UAE Football Association announced the cancellation of all matches scheduled for April 16.
