BBC Wales, or Plaid Cymru TV as they should really be called, has decided to publish a hit job on Nigel Farage today. Anti-Reform stories are becoming more frequent as we approach the Senedd election, while Plaid get an easy ride. Don't forget: BBC Wales Director, Rhuanedd Richards, is the former Chief Executive of Plaid Cymru. The BBC decided to publish their story about Nigel Farage's cameos, which were clearly and obviously a joke, but have refused to report on the fact that Plaid's Leader literally said “there's no such thing as illegal immigration” on a BBC programme! I was invited today to answer the BBC's questions on the Module 3 COVID report specifically - that was their request. But did they actually want to talk about future pandemic preparedness or the Welsh Government's role in what was the highest death rate in the UK? No! They wanted to talk about cameos. Nigel Farage is a staunch supporter of the Welsh language, as we all are in Reform. And in response to today's appalling Welsh NHS statistics, what did the BBC use as their headline? “Hospital waiting lists in Wales see record drop” >As diagnostic waiting list hit a two-year high. >As cancer performance worsens. >And the longest waits for treatment of 2+ years (which were virtually eliminated in England years ago) drop by a mere 0.8%. What a joke! BBC Wales has lost credibility with the Welsh public.

The official definition of Islamophobia — now repackaged as “anti-Muslim hostility” — will be used to suppress legitimate criticism of Islam and its practices. We are already seeing this play out. Less than a week after the Communities Secretary, Steve Reed, published the definition — assuring the public it would not stifle legitimate criticism of Islam — Nick Timothy is facing calls to resign after criticising mass ritual prayer by Muslims in Trafalgar Square. He has been accused of “anti-Muslim hostility” by a Labour MP and reported to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards. This is a Muslim blasphemy law by the back door. Today, the Free Speech Union has sent a pre-action letter to Steve Reed, threatening judicial review if the definition and guidance are not withdrawn immediately. This is one of the biggest fights we’ve taken on in our six-year history. Help us stop the Government’s de facto Muslim blasphemy law 👇

England and Portugal. One of the oldest alliances in the world. Since 1386. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇵🇹 They had sailed together. Traded together. Gone to war together. But there was a moment when it nearly ended. And the reason was slavery. Portugal started the Atlantic slave trade. In 1444. For the next four centuries they transported more enslaved people across the Atlantic than any other nation on earth. Britain joined them. For a hundred years British ships sailed the same routes. British merchants made the same profits. Then in 1807, thanks to the will of the British people, they stopped. The Royal Navy, the most powerful fleet on earth, was sent to the African coast. Not to conquer. To hunt. Every slave ship it found, it seized. Every person on board, it freed. But the trade was still going. Under Portuguese flags. So Britain went to its oldest friend and made a demand. Treaty. Portugal agreed to restrict its slave trade. Britain pushed harder. Another treaty. Portugal banned the trade north of the equator. Britain pushed harder still. Another treaty. Portugal conceded the right to let the Royal Navy stop and search Portuguese ships on the open ocean. The alliance nearly didn't survive it. Six hundred years of friendship stretched to breaking point. Portugal called it betrayal. Britain called it justice. Portugal formally abolished the slave trade in 1836. Slavery itself in its African colonies, 1869. It took sixty years of pressure. Sixty years of treaties. Sixty years of Royal Navy ships on the water. The alliance held. It still holds today. The oldest in the world. These are the stories that don't make the history books. We find them. We tell them. If they matter to you, be part of us. proudofus.co.uk/support Be Proud Of Us. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

John Constable did not paint kings, battles, or empires. He painted fields, skies, rivers, and working life. In doing so, he captured something deeper. The quiet reality of England itself. A short thread. 🧵

The Mid-Ocean Ridge is the ultimate unwatched tragedy of modern science. It's almost never mentioned in the climate debate. We obsess over a trace gas 0.042% of the atmosphere, yet ignore a 65,000 km volcanic spine that endlessly resurfaces the planet. How does that happen? This isn't just a geological feature, it’s Earth’s primary circulatory system. While the narrative focuses on tailpipes, this ridge is quietly venting heat, minerals, and carbon on a scale that makes human activity look like a footnote. New Evidence: * Woods Hole research shows hydrothermal vent temperatures are volatile, spiking by 40°C in short bursts. This isn't a steady hum, it’s a pulsating engine room injecting vital energy into deep currents (the AMOC) that can take decades to surface. * University of Sydney researchers argue we’ve significantly underestimated these ridges. When mid ocean ridge spreading speeds up, they don't just release CO2, they change ocean chemistry, dictating how much CO2 the water can hold. * Scientists only recently discovered the Kunlun Hydrothermal Field. This is a 'vent metropolis' 100 times larger than the fabled Lost City. If we didn't know an 11 square kilometre volcanic field existed until last year, how can we claim to have settled the math on global emissions? Does the climate narrative stop at the shoreline? While we argue over parts per million in the air, a 65,000 km natural wonder is busily creating the very crust we stand on. It’s the origin of life, the driver of oceanic heat, and a massive, unmeasured variable in the carbon mystery.
