@jjstyx 3. Currently trees are being brought out of hazard areas. Major RX burns have been done in sequoia groves in sequoia and Yosemite and in Yosemite valley. So please check your facts.

Joey - Master of Wit and Sarcasm
Another great article by Jenn at RedState. I witnessed this as a kid in Yosemite. They still had controlled burns, lived there for 4 years and we did not have one fire that was not quickly put out. When Sierra Club sued to leave the forest in a natural state. About 30 years later I was off trail backpacking through Yosemite and was climbing over dead trees stacked three to four on top of each other. They no longer allow you to cut and use dead trees for firewood anymore. Years later this happened. All these animals were killed, some had actually seen wolverines in some of these areas. They haven't been to CA since 1910.

@jjstyx 2. There are large areas of bug kill pines in the central Sierra that made fires such as Creek and KNP worse and hard to suppress. There are still large areas of these trees that pose a hazard and are not accessible and are not suitable for harvesting as they are dead

@jjstyx Yosemite has been actively conducting RX burns for over 50 years non stop. And allowing natural lightning fires to enhance the ecosystem system in areas that are fire dependent in the wilderness. 1

BREAKING: DOI Announces Forming Of The U.S. Wildland Fire Service. USDA And DOI Issue Memos To Further Unify Wildfire Operations. On Today’s Show: thehotshotwakeup.substack.com/p/breaking-doi… A major announcement was made today by the Department of the Interior and the United States Department of Agriculture. The DOI has announced the creation of the United States Wildfire Service, which unifies all its wildfire programs. While the new USWFS awaits full unification with the United States Forest Service fire management organization, the two departments will increase the use of existing authorities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of wildland fire management across all involved agencies. A new fire chief will be appointed for the USWFS “promptly.” They note the new chief of the USWFS must possess appropriate wildland fire management experience commensurate with the position. Joint memos went out from both Departments, which I cover in full. This includes the unification of aviation and vehicles, modification of geographic regions and boundaries, PPE, unification of position descriptions, pay, benefits, prescribed fire, post fire actions, and the use of predictive services to deploy and position resources before wildfires break out. Huge news. I bring this to folks in a free episode, thanks to all the monthly subscribers who make that possible. Couldn’t do it without your support.

There's lots of terrible political news out there, today. Here is a conversation between two people who both thought the other person was full of sh!t on Facebook, and finally sat down for a conversation in real life. Frank Carroll and I talked about national wildfire fire policy for an hour and a half. Not everyone's cup of tea, but Frank looks at the issues of using fire as a resource management tool through a long lens, formed across over 50 years of work in fire, forestry, and the law. Over the past 3 months, The Lookout has produced 51 live streams, 20 edited videos, and 30 shorts. As fire season ramps down across the West, The Lookout will be pivoting from daily fire coverage to reporting on prescribed fire, and longer form interviews. Thanks for all of your support over the past 10 weeks. We the-lookout.org/2025/09/11/fra…

@CALFIRE_CHIEF @GovPressOffice @WadeCrowfoot @CAL_FIRE What about all the federal agencies and crews involved in this effort. Not all of those 110,00 strikes occurred on state DPA its a true interagency effort on all fires regardless of jurisdiction. USFS, NPS and BLM have had their share of this have the same goal the state does

Over 110,000 lightning strikes during the month of August sparked 534 lightning-caused wildfires — yet only 5 (1%) grew beyond 10 acres. CAL FIRE continues to meet its goal of containing 95% of fires to 10 acres or less.   We are currently seeing increased fire activity due to the lightning activity seen over the last few days, and conditions remain critical. Please stay prepared, stay aware, and have a plan in case a wildfire threatens your community.   Our crews continue to work tirelessly across the state to protect the communities we serve.

HONORING OUR FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS OF THE SPANISH RANCH FIRE: On August 15, 1979, the crew of CDF Engine 5373 bravely responded to the Spanish Ranch Fire. Fire Captain Ed Marty and Firefighters Ron Laurent, Steve Manley, and Scott Cox made the ultimate sacrifice, leading to the adoption of fire shelters that protect firefighters to this day. #NeverForgotten #46Years #CDF5373
