The bad news: Team USA lost to Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic Final last night. The good news: Venezuela’s Eugenio Suárez gave glory to Jesus Christ BY NAME on national television for ALL to see 🙏 “God is good. All the glory is for Lord Jesus...He was with us the whole time. We have to glorify, put his name in front of everything”

I texted a coach this morning and asked how the new job was going after about a month. His response was one I’ve heard many times… and lived myself: “Not bad. Some kids pushing back culture wise. Always worried about staff and numbers.” If you go into a program and start making the changes that need to be made, be ready for pushback. That’s normal. My advice to him: Water the good grass. Don’t let the weeds hold you hostage. Too many coaches start looking the other way because they want to keep players and coaches happy. They convince themselves they can slowly change the culture. It doesn’t work that way. Culture doesn’t drift in the right direction. It moves toward the standard you enforce. Stay strong to your principles. The right grass will grow. 🌱🏈 @fastnwide

🥓 Hot take 🥓 The passion, joy and confidence the Dominican Republic plays with is something I wish more American kids could do. The “act like you’ve been there” crowd are dinosaurs. They aren’t acting like punks or showing up their opponents or talking trash. They are playing with unbridled joy and passion.

Italy manager Francisco Cervelli on the impact HOF manager Joe Torre made on him with the Yankees, having his WBC players wear suits to the games: ‘He taught me so much: how to be elegant, respectful and be a Yankee. So that's what I'm trying to do here in Italy. Italy, it's culture, it's elegance, it's art. So my guys, they dress well every day. They respect this. This is the highest level in the world. So why not create a tradition of, like, a Joe Torre tradition, that is respect this game and be a professional inside and outside the field.’’

I’m going to explain pelvic plane rotation in the pitching delivery in 60 seconds or less so you can stop throwing time. Pelvic plane rotation is something I was introduced to by Albertus Barber, my cofounder at ThePitcherLab. Basically, it’s about matching how your pelvis rotates to the mound. The mound is on a downward slope. Because of that, we want our pelvis to rotate downward as well. A big mistake I see a lot of pitchers make is that their pelvis doesn’t match the downward plane. Instead, they rotate upward. That usually happens because of things like pushing too much with the back leg. When you rotate upward, you don’t get as much energy into the front leg. That makes it harder to transfer energy into the throw. What we want is for the pelvis to rotate downward into foot plant. That’s how you get the most energy into the throw. If you want to learn more about pelvic plane rotation, comment pelvis. I’ll send over a guide on how you can improve it.

The weight room is so much more than just lifting weights... It’s a toughness chamber! On a side note: get powerful, explosive & strong...but also be sure to maintain flexibility...stretch with purpose often. Range of motion and muscle balance is critical in baseball.

Brandon Guyer - Major League Mindset
I struggled my first 3 years of high school baseball… and it had nothing to do with talent. - I relied on results for confidence. - I feared failure because I didn’t know how to handle it. - I was a perfectionist. - I would overthink everything. - I couldn’t slow the game down in big moments. - I played great in practice but couldn’t bring it into games. - And worst of all my self-worth was tied to baseball. That combo crushed my confidence and made me play scared instead of free. What I wish I knew back then: - How to create confidence rather than than rely on results for it - Freedom doesn’t come from perfection. - My worth has NOTHING to do with my stat line. When you learn how to handle failure, quiet the noise, slow the game down, and show up as your best self regardless of outcomes, everything changes.

Very few, and I mean very few kids belong in D1 baseball as freshmen. Even less belong in P5 baseball. With that being said. Every time I see a kid post a commitment to a junior college, D2, D3 or NAIA school, I think, that kid got good advice. The kids that do belong in D1, and most especially P5 schools out of high school are the kids that are legitimately deciding between a pro contract and school. The percentage of kids that get meaningful playing time as freshmen at D1, and most especially P5 schools advertises it's not a great decision for most.

Non parent travel ball coaches deserve a lot of respect and appreciation. Because, they have to actually travel and spend time away from their families to coach other peoples kids, for very little money. Don't expect them to appreciate your excuses as to why your son can't attend practices, games or tournaments, when they are making the sacrifice to be reliable and dependable.
