Tragic news out of Flushing. Thank you to our first responders on scene and battling this 4-alarm fire. My heart is with today’s victims, their loved ones, and the first responders responding to this devastating scene.

The Temple Israel attack underscores a painful irony of Jewish life: synagogues, schools, JCCs, etc are all extremely vulnerable targets and also the safest places for Jews in American to congregate. Security also isn’t free: @jfederations estimates a $775M annual cost. @CBSNews

Words matter. The mainstreaming of antisemitic rhetoric has dangerous real world consequences. Today's attack on a Michigan synagogue is yet another in a string of examples. Allowing anti-Jewish hatred to go unchecked harms Jews and is a threat to all of society.

Jews cannot worship anywhere in the world outside of Israel without heavily armed security. This is not normal.

Days like today remind me exactly why I ran for office — to fight for the next generation of leaders. Spending time with these bright and thoughtful Jewish girls gives me so much hope for the future. The world is stronger because of them. #JewishAndProud

Today is the first anniversary of the day Ariel and Kfir Bibas were finally returned to Israel after being kidnapped and murdered. Their mother, Shiri Bibas, was said to be returned with them. However, Hamas thought it would be funny to send the body of an unfortunate Gazan woman instead, separating the babies from their mother after death and causing more grief for the Bibas family. Shiri was not reunited with her babies until February 22nd, a mere two days after they sent the other body, making it clear that the "mix-up" was fully intentional. Ariel and Kfir, your memories are blessings to us always. I'm so glad your killers can no longer dehumanize and abuse you.
