Migrant Slices Woman's Throat In Random Attack In Spain. A young woman was brutally stabbed to death in a shocking random and unprovoked attack in the morning on a busy street in Esplugues de Llobregat, just outside Barcelona, as terrified witnesses watched on in horror. The incident took place around 11am on Saturday, May 2, on Joan Miro Street near the Sant Joan de Deu Hospital. The attacker, captured in photos brandishing a large knife while fleeing with a black backpack, slashed the victim multiple times, including wounds to her throat, before turning the knife on a 58 year old man who tried to intervene. Paramedics rushed to the scene but could do nothing to save the woman, believed to be in her 20s and of Asian origin. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The 58 year old male victim suffered minor injuries. The attacker, described by multiple sources as a man of North African / Moroccan origin, escaped the scene but was quickly tracked down and arrested nearby on Barcelona's Diagonal avenue after threatening officers with the same knife used in the attack. Police have ruled out any prior relationship between the attacker and his victims, describing it as a random act of extreme violence. Gender-based violence has been explicitly discounted. The investigation remains under judicial secrecy, with no official confirmation yet on the suspect's exact nationality, age, or immigration status. Locals and politicians have expressed outrage, with the Esplugues town council issuing a statement condemning the serious event and voicing concerns about coexistence and citizen security. This latest horror comes as knife crime and random public attacks continue to plague Catalonia and other parts of Spain. Woman gang raped in Malta, five men, including two minors charged.
