@JoeGoodberry Myles Murphy is going into his 4th season with the bengals and has maybe 3 to 4 good games out of all of them, and by good, I mean by his standards, they were really just average outings for most players. He doesn't deserve the 5th year option At most he deserves 4 million a year
The crazy part about not picking up Myles Muprhy's 5th Year Option is that the Bengals have only declined that 3 times in their past.
Cedric Ogbuehi, John Ross and Billy Price
We're talking about the definition of Busts in Bengals history.
Myles doesn't fit with them.
Oh and those 3 combined to play 5 games for the Bengals in those 4th years after the option was declined.
3 for Ross
2 for Ogbuehi
And Billy Price was traded for BJ Hill
None of them did anything in their 4th year for Cincinnati.
@JamesRapien@Stevenhaugen3 Omg thats soo much for a guy who has shown nothing and proven he is unreliable at the best of times. He's looking at maybe 4 million a year with no guarantees
“It takes 3 years to fully grade an NFL draft class”
That being said, how would you grade the 2023 #Bengals Draft Class?
1. DE Myles Murphy
2. CB DJ Turner
3. S Jordan Battle
4. WR Charlie Jones
5. RB Chase Brown
6. WR Andrei Iosivas
6. P Brad Robbins
7. CB DJ Ivey
I think with these that we always have to keep in mind cap effect. It appears that he's in the final year of a 3 year deal avg $8.8 mill. If I knew that I could extend him an extra year or two close to that range I'd make the trade. It's always about value! I'd also consider how he would fit into the lockerroom. I'd want to hear captain's opinions from those having played against him. At this point, veteran linebackers should be WANTING to come to Cincinnati. It sure looks like ring time for whomever is hungry! If he wouldn't be willing to extend at least 1 year, then I'd do the trade but with Cincy receiving that 6th round pick instead (which I think would defeat the purpose of what Miami seeks to accomplish right now). There are too many good veteran linebackers out there right now to even think about overpaying. But Cincy DOES at least need 1. I think Knight Jr would do just fine if he had a veteran making the calls and making sure Knight was where he was supposed to be. 🧐
@BengalsBrews South Carolina was awful, every end that played against them looked like an all star 🤣, hes underweight and his arms are too short, NFL tackles are too big, too fast and too good with theor hands, guys with his body type have never succeeded ar edge in the NFL
Cashius Howell vs. South Carolina
Howell made his impact in this one in a variety of ways. He was batting down passes, drawing a lot of attention, and obviously doing what he does best in rushing the passer.
@BuckeyeNatty Unfortunately this is the Bengals and the Brown/Blackburn family, they will never go out of their way to restructure or make cap space, if its not cheap, easy and right in their faces, its not gonna happen.
I know the Bengals would never do it, but Bobby Wagner on a 1-year deal would be another BIG boost to the defense
Per Spotrac, he’s projected at $7.7M
Bobby Okereke is still out there too. 9th in tackles last season, but projected closer to $12M
Cap space is tight, but this is exactly why restructuring matters… frees you up to go add other needed pieces
@JoeGoodberry 🤣 why would they keep him, what they are really saying is, you need to show us something, anything so we dont look like idiots, if you dont your ass is gone.
@JoeGoodberry So cool we drafted a guy who is gonna be a rotational piece who might get 1p plays rushing the passer a game, when we could have gotten a day 1 3 down starter at LB or Corner. Stupid.
I was asked to go more in depth about what it would mean for the Bengals to play more 3-4 defense.
Don't overcomplicate it. They've been doing it for years.
A situation is going viral after a woman bought food and didn’t get anything for her partner’s son. Some say it’s not her responsibility, while others feel it’s about consideration. Who’s right in this situation? 🤔
@SleeperBengals@SleeperNFL So what Im seeing here is 0 starting level LBs and only 1 decent NFL level corner, we are smoked again. You wanted average you got it 🤣🤣
An updated look at the #Bengals defense:
EDGE: Boye Mafe, Myles Murphy, Shemar Stewart, Cashius Howell, Cedric Johnson
DT: Dexter Lawrence, Jonathan Allen, B.J. Hill, T.J. Slaton, Kris Jenkins, McKinnley Jackson, Landon Robinson
LB: Demetrius Knight Jr., Barrett Carter, Oren Burks, Joe Giles-Harris
CB: DJ Turner, Dax Hill, Jalen Davis, Tacario Davis, DJ Ivey, Josh Newton
S: Bryan Cook, Jordan Battle, Kyle Dugger, Daijhan Anthony
@JamesRapien Which is insane cause according to all anylists this is an extremely think draft class with very few starting level talent guys and even fewer projected to be pro bowl caliber. Tobin couldn't draft his way out of a wet paper bag. This franchise is a joke and Burrow is gone smh
The Bengals had over 300 players with draftable grades and 150 players that they were "high" on would've loved to take in this class according to Duke Tobin.
