In 2025 alone, the @UNDP-implemented @GlobalFund programme reached more than 412,000 people from key populations across #Nepal, helping expand access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and psychosocial support. Behind these numbers are stories like Ram Prasad Sada's (now Parichan). For years, Ram Prasad lived in fear of stigma and exclusion after being diagnosed with HIV. Today, she is not only continuing her own treatment journey but also helping others access care and support without shame or fear. People are now finding something just as important as medicine: dignity, trust, solidarity, and hope. Commemorating the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (#IDAHOBIT), we reaffirm the importance of inclusive, representative, and accountable societies that uphold the equality, dignity, protection, and full participation of LGBTIQ+ people in all areas of life. At a time when discrimination and violence continue to threaten rights and civic space globally, standing in solidarity with communities and human rights defenders remains essential to advancing inclusion and justice for all.

We didn’t just stay online. We stepped up. For Online @UNVolunteers supporting @UNDP Nepal during the 2026 elections, it meant late-night fact-checks, fighting misinformation, navigating comment-section debates, answering voter questions, reposting verified information, and celebrating the quiet wins. The 2026 elections highlighted, democracy is happening on our feeds too. 📱 These young volunteers helped people access verified election information, pushed back against misinformation, and reminded everyone that showing up matters— online and offline. Not all impacts go viral. Sometimes it’s just one person seeing the right information at the right time. Nepal’s conservation success is a story of partnership. Through the Tiger-Rhino Conservation Project, @UNDP worked alongside local residents to ensure that living near wildlife wasn't a constant challenge, but a source of opportunity for everyone. A vital part of this success was supporting the safe and sustainable relocation of villages like Padumpur. This wasn't just about moving homes; it was about ensuring families could thrive through local crafts and farming. Today, by making sure those who live closest to nature are the ones who benefit most from its protection, we’ve ensured a future where both people and wildlife can grow together. 🎥To watch the full story, visit: youtube.com/watch?v=PFSQvQ… UNDP Nepal: Leading community conservation. 🤝 #UNDPNepal60 #WildlifeConservation #CommunityFirst

Delivering Nepal’s peace dividend-From conflict to a new chapter In 2008, as Nepal emerged from a decade-long conflict and transitioned into a republic, UNDP supported efforts to turn the promise of a “peace dividend” into tangible change. Working alongside the government and communities, it backed 39 projects across peacebuilding, local governance, inclusive livelihoods, and empowerment of vulnerable groups, while also supporting the @ECNOfficial nepal and managing the Nepal Peace Trust Fund. These efforts helped rebuild trust, strengthen institutions, and amplify voices long left unheard, linking recovery with governance and economic opportunity. Peace is more than an agreement, it’s a foundation for inclusive development that continues to shape Nepal’s future. #UNDP60 #60YearsInNepal #PeaceDividend

Power to the People: Building the Foundation of Local Governance 🏛️🤝 Following the restoration of democracy in the early 1990s, @undpnepal brought initiatives like the Participatory District Development Program (PDDP) and the Local Governance Program (LGP) to bring decision-making power directly to the local level. By training elected officials and promoting participatory planning, these projects laid the groundwork for a decentralized, accountable, and inclusive system. Today, this legacy continues through UNDP’s support to strengthened local governance systems under programmes like the Provincial and Local Governance Support Programme (PLGSP), enhancing service delivery, transparency, and citizen engagement. Initiatives such as the One Stop Service Delivery (OSSD) approach are now being replicated by the Government across multiple municipalities, making public services more accessible and efficient. 🔗 Read more: undp.org/nepal/projects… UNDP: 60 Years Together. 🇳🇵 #UNDPNepal60 #LocalGovernance #EmpoweringCommunities

Bridging the Gap: Nepal’s Aerial Lifeline 🌍 The rugged peaks of the Himalayas stood as a barrier to development, leaving highland communities in isolation where basic supplies required a two-week trek. @UNDP launched a transformative air transport project to bridge this gap. From that first solo flight to decades of reaching the last mile, our commitment to Nepal’s journey remains as strong as ever. 🇺🇳 🤝🇳🇵, Together. 📖 To read more about Captain Hardy and UNDP’s efforts: undp.org/nepal/stories/… 🎥 Watch the full story on our YouTube channel: youtu.be/doAkxzD-2G8?si… #UNDPNepal60 #HimalayanJourney
