Around 15 lakh auto-rickshaw drivers across Maharashtra have announced a statewide agitation from May 4 against the government’s decision to make Marathi language proficiency mandatory for drivers. Unions have warned that the protest could disrupt transport services and lead to a shortage of autos on roads.
